looking right into you
This is my first attempt at a Panorama. / It is a combination of 2 images. I couldn’t decide which one to upload when I suddenly got the idea to join them together…..this is what I came up with. / / It is an infared shot. / / The title is from Frank Zappa. I have used it before…but it seemed quite fitting for this image.
Vector Illustration of Bernie Williams, previously of the NY Yankees.. I miss him watching him play.
Medium-coloured pencil / Here is a portrait I drew of Gareth’s beloved greyhound “Bernie”. When my camera is charged, I will put up the second portrait of his other greyhound “Eddie”.
I’ve experienced the sublime on one or two times in music. It isn’t comfortable. / Just before the Strawb closed to jazz Bernie McGann was booked in for two successive Thursdays. The first was a wet and miserable November night. The audience barely outnumbered Bernie’s trio. Bernie would have been on first name terms with everyone. / As the band set up I chatted with Bernie’s partner Addie. As the set started the music took an uncomfortable direction – the music unusually angular, ugly, expressive; the unaccompanied codas searing. Addie walked off shaking her head saying “he’s blown me away”. Throughout the set there was little or no applause – groans, muttered comments: “ Yes…”, “Fuck! …”. Heartfelt responses. No gratuitous bullshit. / A week later the band played at the same venue. High energy excellence, the band at it’s peak… but not coming near the previous week’s heights. At the interval I spoke to the drummer John Pochee. He said “It’s never the same – there’s always something you’ve never heard before with Bernie”. / I must have head Bernie a hundred rimes before that night, but since then I’ve not felt the need. I’ve heard something few others will ever hear,
rest in peace bernie mac
I would dearly love to go to the Brazilian Grand Prix this year, if just to hand out a few hundred of these T-shirts. View me larger but low res here
I am a big fan of the “Bernie Mac Show.” I have followed Mr. McCullough’s career for many years and he will be greatly missed. In the background is George Carlin and in the distance above the elevator is Richard Pryor and Redd Foxx. This painting was created in acrylic on canvas panel.
With the gracious approval of Mark Peterson, I have created an image of what I envision the song “Someone Saved My Life Tonight” by Elton John & Bernie Taupin (Captain Fantastic & The Brown Dirt Cowboy – 1975) would look like. Marks amazing images – Butterfly and Beautiful were selected and combined with layers of texture (inspired by Marks own style) and bits of lyrics from this song. I am thankful that Mark was delighted with the result and gave me the go-ahead to upload and share this collaborative work here on RB. For those who don’t know the song, click HERE for the Youtube video. / / / / Lyrics: / When I think of those east end lights, muggy nights / The curtains drawn in the little room downstairs / Prima donna Lord you really should have been there / Sitting like a princess perched in her electric chair / And its one more beer and I dont hear you anymore / We’ve all gone crazy lately / My friends out there rolling round the basement floor And someone saved my life tonight sugar bear / You almost had your hooks in me didn’t you dear / You nearly had me roped and tied / Altar-bound, hypnotized / Sweet freedom whispered in my ear / Youre a butterfly / And butterflies are free to fly / Fly away, high away, bye bye I never realised the passing hours of evening showers / A slip noose hanging in my darkest dreams / I’m strangled by your haunted social scene / Just a pawn out-played by a dominating queen / It’s four o’clock in the morning / Damn it listen to me good / I’m sleeping with myself tonight / Saved in time, thank God my musics still alive And I would have walked head on into the deep end of the river / Clinging to your stocks and bonds / Paying your h.p. demands forever / They’re coming in the morning with a truck to take me home / Someone saved my life tonight, someone saved my life tonight / Someone saved my life tonight, someone saved my life tonight / Someone saved my life tonight
Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone on the phone at the 2007 Japanese Grand Prix, Fuji Speedway. Torrential rain had threatened the qualifying for the GP and desperate phone calls where going on everywhere, hence the worried look. Shortly after this photo was taken the rain did relent and qualifying went ahead.

—-—-—-—-—— Bernard Lawrence "Bernie" Madoff (born April 29, 1938 in New York City) is an American businessman and former chairman of the NASDAQ stock exchange. Bernie is part Shih-tzu, I believe. Six or so years ago I would see him running the road shoulder down by the volunteer firehouse. He did that for weeks. It was cold. March. I’d go and look for him but he would never come, keeping his distance at 30 feet. If I talked to him from my truck, he’d stop for an instant, then turn and run away. He was always on the road, moving constantly. My friend Sandra runs a small dog rescue and has a big heart for strays, whom she grooms, brings to the vet for spaying, neutering and whatever the stray needs, and then adopts them out. There was no way to catch this little shaggy dog. Until late one afternoon, I baited a humane live trap with Limburger cheese. I set it up near where I thought he may be sleeping – an unoccupied trailer. It was so cold that night. Bitter. Windy. This part of the Florida panhandle can get very cold, but seldom for long. I was up early next morning and drove down to see if he caught himself in the trap. There he was. I picked the trap up with him in it to put in the back of my truck because I didn’t want him to jump out. When I picked up that trap he cried like a human baby and wrenched my heart. The vet said he’d make a nice little house dog. He has been all that and more. He still has the wanderlust, and believe it or not, all these years he’s been walked on a leash on the acre. He will shoot right through the fence and visit the Chihuahuas across the street if I don’t. And occasionally he’ll turn at the corner and head out for parts unknown. So I can’t take any chances with Bernie. He is great with the other dogs and he loves the cats. There was never any question that morning on where his home would be. The minute I picked him up in the trap and heard him cry, he had a home for life.
Bernie warming herself. Snuggled in a bean bag, enjoying the sunlight from the front doors on a cold wintery day. Here is our family pet.
A beautiful family friend with bags of character and humour. Every picture tells a story though and the truth behind the eyes is a sad one…...
Seriously? What no Bernie Madoff; What a way to start off the tricker treating! But you must admit Bernie Madoff would be scarier! About this painting: / Media: 140 Bristol paper / Materials: color pencil, marker / Original: sold
