To any of you who know Vicky, you will also know that over the past little while she has suffered the loss of two of her beloved pets, her dog Chelsea and her cat Elizabeth. I am sad to say that yesterday, Vicky and her husband John suffered the loss of yet another beloved animal, their cat Adolf. He was 16 and died of advanced kidney failure. Vicky shared a special bond with Adolf who she had had since he was a kitten and she is devastated by his loss. If you feel inclined, please send Vicky your condolences, thoughts, prayers to let her know that you are with her to help her through her pain. Thanks and God Bless you all. Love, Ruthie

Musings of a Migrant.
by bidkevWritten the day before Anzac Day
Written the day before Anzac Day Go easy….............I’ve never written a poem before. How lucky are we? Yesterday, the school rang to say that my son Jake was in counselling but didn’t want to come home as he wanted to stay with his mate. Jake is autistic, as are his other two mates. He only has two mates, as autistic children find it hard to socialise. His other mate died in his sleep the night before and the school had just been informed and they in turn, then informed Jake and his remaining mate. They both chose to stay at school and console each other, rather than come home. He is devastated and it was really difficult to get him to go to bed last night as he thought the same thing would happen to him He’s ok this morning and his thoughts are now with those who made sacrifices for us all. I’m lucky because my son is still with me. I’m lucky because the school handled it so well. I’m lucky because my kids are growing up in a country where the schools place emphasis on mateship, and the honouring and remembering of those who make the supreme sacrifice. I’m lucky because my family has the freedom that others who knew nothing of me, fought for. I’m lucky because I live in the best place on earth where my kids can grow to their full potential and be loved and accepted for what they are, not who they are. I’m lucky because Australia accepted me as a citizen. Thank you Australia and thank you those who fought for, and made Australia what it is today. This poem sums up how I feel about the lifestyle and the fishing here, but it’s more than that. It’s more than being just about boating/fishing, it’s about how lucky I am.

Reads: Trust Walk My trust walk has just begun… / I trust that you are still with me, / still in my heart, still a part of me. I trust that I can still hear your voice, / feel your breath on my face, / and the strength of your embrace. I trust my heart, for it knows the truth / that my mind can’t comprehend- / your spirit, wisdom, and love live on. I trust that when my walk here is done, / I’ll rest with you again- / true love such as ours, never ends. I trust while some things change, / others never do- / and my home will always be with you.

ONE LAST TIME
by Stephen JacksonI thought, before they cut her phone off, / I might leave a last message. / One for the ether: one that not a soul / Would ever hear. “Good…
Apparently I’m not the only son (or daughter) who’s ached to make a phone call to a person who has just died. “Closure”, they call it. But little in life is ever really closed, just scabbed over.

My favorite of the photos I took of the Bereavement boys in the hills a couple of weeks ago. I think I like it because it looks like a scene belonging to a whole narrative because of the lights of Perth in the background and the mood of the whole image. I had so much fun. I experimented with covering most of the flash trying to get it to just land on their faces. This Is actually 2 photographs overlapped. I let the camera take a photo without flash and then immediately the same photo with flash. then using photoshop, made the layers transparent and fiddled with it until i liked it. / I also made the inverted crucifix in this photo. I was supposed to make four but i was caught making that one using campus equipment and apparently theres are rules on using the equipment for projects that are not for tafe and are for personal profit or something. The other side is shiny but Adam/Eblis prefers to wear it showing the burnt side from all the plasma cutting and welding heat.
