This is one gorgeous car. The story goes something like this: It once belonged to the mayor of Mexico City who used it as a daily driver. When Nelson Rockefeller found the car it was in horrendous condition. Rockefeller bought it and restored it. William Harrah, in his quest for one of these fine automobiles was not in the habit of inquiring about any specific car in any collection so he made out a personal check to Mr. Rockefeller to purchase the entire Rockefeller collection. There are only five of these beauties left: Two in private collections, two in the international headquarters of Mercedes Benz, and this one at the National Automobile Museum in Reno, NV. Here are more views of this fine car:
An old 1930’s Mercedes Benz on exhibition at NGV (National Gallery of Victoria) in Melbourne. This car was a V8 had automatic transmission and went from 0 – 100kmph in only 16 seconds! haha how times change! Background desaturated in Photoshop and Gaussian Blur applied to background layer. Went to the automobile museum today. They moved this car so better angles are available – I certainly couldn’t resist. 1956 Mercedes Benz 300 SL Sports Coupe.
The badge on the front of our family car.. mercedes Vito.
Captured this shot a while ago, and have always been meaning to do something with it. I ran it through the Fractalius plugin, and then tried to apply my version of the Orton effect. To me, this image looks very “dream like”, sort of the image one might recollect from a dream they may have had. My art with 1000+ views

This highway shot was taken mid-morning from the open (passenger) window of a moving four-wheel-drive, or SUV, in northern India, on the busy road from the capital, New Delhi, to Dehra Dun, in mid-December 2007. This is a quintessential “Indian road trip” scene – a truck stop where long-haul drivers pull over to stretch their legs and to buy fresh, healthy food from a mobile vendor pushing his wares on a simple two-wheeled cart covered with thick red plastic sheeting. The Tata Mercedes-Benz truck is a familiar scene on Indian highways – and has been for decades. The lettering on the truck’s tailgate says “Horn Please” – mandatory signage for these vehicles! It’s also interesting to note that the tailgate is still held in place by a clearly visible metal chain, which suggests that the truck must be an old model, with thousands of kilometres on the clock. The man with the white beard is the vendor and it looks like sweet potato is his staple offering. The other three are obviously customers and judging by the bulging cheeks of the man in the orange turban, the food is good! The little details say so much about the vendor’s capacity to improvise. His metal tub storing the fresh vegetables is anchored in place by a small rubber tyre, probably from a motorcycle, scooter or an auto-rickshaw. To provide even greater stability, the handles are tied down with slim coir rope. His green plastic cash box with the day’s takings sits on something very interesting. The dark blue surface is actually a cut-down, upside-down Pepsi crate! *I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. * Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. from the collection of the Antique Car and Caravan Museum, Luray, Virginia. This is one of the oldest automobiles on display in the United States and was one of the first cars produced in quantity for sale. The first Benz was built by Karl Benz in 1885 and was a three wheeler. This model was built in Mannheim, Germany and has a 5 horse power, single cylinder, water-cooled gasoline engine.
This is the inside of the famous Mercedes Benz 300SL Gullwing. Nearly all of the shots I’ve ever seen of this car are of the outside – here’s something a little different. On display at the National Automobile Museum, The Harrah Collection, Reno, Nevada.
