MY SECRET SPOT-Many think that Los Angeles, California is filled with traffic and cars; however, I know of several unique spots. This IS one of my favorites. I’ll never tell you where it is-unless you come to L.A…then if you’re nice…we can go to a picnic here. Do you want to go?

To catch the sun rising over the mountain requires a 3AM wakeup call 2 hour drive and a short 1 mile hike to waters edge. In my book worth it! Dawn illuminates the cloud-capped peak of Mt. Rainier as it reflects in the the still waters of Bench Lake

This church isn’t known for its stained glass windows, nor for its benches. It’s famous because of its neighbour – a 19th century precise replica of the original Via Dolorosa. No, they didn’t copy the buildings, just the distance and the actual slope. To make the glory of the Lord shine brighter, they didn’t just use the natural topography of the area. Instead, they dug a huge ravine – it took them 15 years, and it’s estimated that 70 000 men took part in the digging. But, of course, I didn’t take the picture of the Polish Via Dolorosa. The light wasn’t good enough.

Lorraine Creagh nominated this image for the Pay it Forward group. / Here’s what she said about this image: I love the feeling that I get with the image. Loneliness, peace and age. I wonder how many people have sat on those benches in contemplation. The colouring and aged treatment that Kimberly has given it works so well for this shot Thank you Lorraine, you are a sweet friend! A pair of street lamps I passed today resting after a long night’s work. They are humble folk who just need the occasional seat to help us out. Also part of the series of T-shirts:

Not sure about this….......it was an experiment with a cross between a holga and lomo effect. Might fiddle a bit more and see if I can replicate the effect more closely. This shot was taken at Trinity Beach in Cairns, a few minutes walk from our old house. Rumour had it that this particular bench had special powers….......if you sat there pondering a problem in your life and the light hit at the precise moment, all your wishes would come true. Needless to say, the light you see here is all done via PS, but I still like the folk tale.

Each time I take the Metro in Paris I look at people and think – who are they, where are they going, what do they do in life? They often look lost in their thoughts: are they worried, are they thinking of a loved one? Most of the time though it seems they are dreaming about a better life… I hope I’m wrong and that most are just tired after a long day at work. For those who don’t speak French the graffiti on the wall say: “Consume and shut up”, and “To be born, to consume, to die”.

Taken in the big park after some heavy rain greened up the foilage. This is a great promenade and is the posh end of the Fylde coast in Lancashire England, where most of the posh poeple live, very victorian and very well kept. / Shot this about a year or so ago when there was a big storm coming in, the sun was still shining but didn’t last long, saw this lovely bench and the windmill in the background, hope you like this shot, Some may remember this one. / Here’s a little historical info about lytham windmill in the background: Built on what is now Lytham Green in 1805, the Windmill is the landmark that everyone sees when they come to Lytham. One of several mills on the Fylde, Lytham Mill was worked until 1919 when a fire destroyed most of the machinery. Rebuilt and renovated several times since, the Mill now houses a permanent exhibition of the history of the Mill and of Bread-making; tableaux of Lytham life during the last 100 years, various memorabilia and models. Open to visitors, free admission. / Edited with Photomatix and Photoshop CS2
