This spot in the Sanctuary at Pelican (near Belmont NSW) enticed me to go further, to venture further to see what was around the next bend – I wasn’t disappointed! This area is like a mini rain forest and is bounded by a local road, the Pacific Highway, an abandoned airstrip and Lake Macquarie. The local volunteer group is restoring the area to allow a wonderful refuge for native animals and hikers/photographers. Well worth a visit! /

Thius is the Wharf at Belmont looking into Lake Macquarie. Taken with the D70 not long after i purchased it. The still water with the spectacular sunset makes this one of my favourite shots of this location.

For those unfamiliar with the term ‘legless’, the Online Slang Dictionary states its meaning as ‘intoxicated to the point of being immobile’. It originated in the UK and is also part of the Australian vernacular. I hope that this image is seen for its humour, as no offence is intended to those unable to walk, or indeed have no legs. For months now, every night I’ve driven home from work I’ve seen this motorised scooter parked outside the pub just begging to be photographed, and tonight I finally stopped, fearful that one day it might disappear.
