It’s a mixed media piece on canvas textured paper…...i did it in response to the chilled out cows at Mullumbimby, northern New South Wales, who seem to be very laid back, i suspect they are indulging in the ‘other’ kind of grass also….... they have this real chilled look about them, and I’ve never seen cows anywhere else that have this way about them. I put it in the Casino Art Exhibition and it was the only painting that sold, every year a male school teacher goes to that show, or so the legend goes…....and purchases a piece…...it was my lucky year. Tonight I was asked if I’d ever sold a painting in a gallery…well, yes, and at exhibitions and privately. To date I believe I have sold between 30 and 40 original paintings, which I am very proud of…..in the early days 2002 I was very prolific, things have slowed down a bit with my painting now, because i am much more deliberate and take a lot of time to imbue my paintings with layers and love and depth…..it is just how i have grown as an artist, it is nice to report that there is growth along the journey…(and sales lol)!!! Somebody also has a print of these cows and loves them very much from what I understand lol

Capt. John Davis and Bombardier Lt. Carl Thompson are walking passed their bird to meet the rest of the boys for a few beers. Both can faintly hear music and laughter of men spilling from a tent near the end of the runway. Davis looks back into the setting sun, listens to the big radial engines still ticking from an earlier test flight. The distinct smell of burnt oil still lingers in the air. / “God I love that smell” he thinks to himself. / He gazes down upon the puddles of oil underneath the port and starboard engines. / “Hey, does it look like engine one is leaking more than usual?” John asks, turning to Carl who had his half smoked cigarette in the corner of his mouth. / “It’s been leaking more since Frankfurt”, Carl replies. / “Frankfurt? Yeah, I think you’re right”. Davis can still hear the screams of the waistgunner, when the shrapnel tore through the entire port side. / “Poor Sammy, he never had a chance”, Davis says. / Carl didn’t reply, just walked quietly next to John, the setting sun throwing long shadows onto the tarmac, making them both look like giants. / Both men knew that tonight they indeed feel larger than life, because there is no mission tonight. This photo at first glance seems to be a nude woman next to the pond. The effect would not be there, if this was in color…since the nude is actually a green pepper. This was taken with a Panasonic DMC-FZ7.

California’s wildflower season was somewhat shortlived in 2008, but it was much better than in recent years. Bill and I drove about 3 hours from our home to Lake Elsinore to explore the hills there. Taken at sunrise on a very icy morning, it was a full time job just trying to keep my filter clear. The hill is Cat Bell’s probably the most popular hiking hill in the lake district you can usually see the procession of people walking to the summit on most days, but not today at fist light!!!!. / The Island is Derwent island and has a long history, in Elizabethan times(1500) it was occupied by the German miners who lived there for there own safety I think the local land owners were none to happy about the Queen and these mining companies taking all there precious minerals. / In 1770 Joseph Pocklington purchased Derwent Island for £300, known as King Pocky he built the boat house you can see in the shape of a nonconformist chapel with bell tower, there is also a large house in the centre of the island but it obscured from view by the trees. He got his nick name for organising mock battles on the lake.

Couldn’t resist another visit to Bell’s Beach at dawn this morning to have another crack at the huge surf – and I wasn’t disappointed! It was still powering away. / No HDR tweaking – just some levels adjustment and slight colour correction. Mother Nature did the rest. / Nikon D300 with 70-200 1:2.8G lens and 1.7x extender. /

The bell-shaped flowers of Nectaroscordum siculum / also known as Allium bulgaricum, Allium sicilum – Sicilian honey garlic. I took this photograph in 2007 and was lucky to have it placed 1st in the plant portrait category of the RHS photographic competition 2007. I thought I would share it with you as it seemed to sum up the weather we are having in England, wet, wet, wet! An early snow came to Maroon Bells, CO this September 2009. The Maroon Bells is a mountain in the Elk Mountains that consists of two peaks, South Maroon Peak and North Maroon Peak, separated by about a third of a mile. The mountain is on the border between Pitkin County and Gunnison County, Colorado, United States, about 12 miles southwest of Aspen. Both peaks are counted as fourteeners. Maroon Peak, at 14,156 feet, is the 27th highest peak in Colorado; North Maroon Peak, at 14,014 feet, is the 50th highest. The view of the Maroon Bells to the southwest from the Maroon Creek valley is one of the most famous scenes in Colorado, and is reputed to be the “most-photographed spot in Colorado” and one of Colorado’s premier scenic overlooks.
