Hihi! Udonchow has expanded! I have started another gallery here in RB, it’ called smile4me :D I decided to journal about this again(in greater details :D) because I’ve been pretty low profile about it and have not made much publicity about it. smile4me is a gallery showcasing my toys photography, yes Ophelia appears on photos too! View all my other toys and dolls in natural green settings and read the mini short stories that I have written about them too :D In addition, I have also started another Zazzle store called Heartworks that sells my toy photography stuff. Below are the shoes that I have designed from my Heartworks store, I am in the midst of designing more :D In moments like this, I wish I can have extra pairs of hands and more hours! I’m now managing 2 RBs and 2 Zazzles….and at the same time, I still painting and drawing…which is something which I do not want to stop :D The reason of the expansion (or some call it segregation) between the fine arts and photography is mainly because the concepts and appearance of the works are very different. Thank you so much for your love and support towards me and my work thus far, I am deeply appreciative!! :D :D :D Feel most welcome to visit smile4me gallery here in RB and my Heartworks ! Thanks for viewing! :D “Frangipani” “Hoot Hoot!” “Goldie Belle” “BB aka Black Bunny”

The Bell Island Explosion 1978 - EMP weapons? [NL History]

This is one piece of Newfoundland History which is a little more unusual then the rest. The story of the Bell Island Explosion has always facinated me, so I thought I’d share it with everyone here on the bubble. / Bell island From Wikipedia: / On April 2, 1978, there was a loud explosion on Bell Island that caused damage to some houses and the electrical wires in the surrounding area. Two cup-shaped holes about two feet deep and three feet wide marked the major impact. A number of TV sets in Lance Cove, the surrounding community, also exploded at the time of the blast. Weather men confirmed that atmospheric conditions at the time were not conducive to lightning. The blast was heard 45 kilometers away in Cape Broyle. Apparently U.S. Vela satellites picked up the event. The incident was investigated promptly by two representatives from a U.S. weapons laboratory at Los Alamos, according to the news media.(1) It has been speculated that the explosion was ball lightning. However, a recent documentary aired on The History Channel about electromagnetic pulse weapons speculated that it may have been a result of top secret experiments by either the Russian or U.S. governments, involving high energy beams focused into the ionosphere that where attracted by the iron in abandoned mines. From The History Channel: / On a calm Sunday morning in 1978, residents of Bell Island, Newfoundland hear an odd, high-pitched hum, immediately followed by a sudden and terrifying blast resounding for hundreds of miles. Witnesses observe a “straight shaft of light” descending from the sky, and a barrage of violent electrical phenomenon. Outbuildings are destroyed, livestock electrocuted, televisions explode and power lines vaporize. Observed from space, the light emissions from the “boom” are more powerful than those of the Hiroshima blast. The Invisible Machine unravels the mystery of the Bell Island “boom” and in doing so takes a chilling look at the U.S. military’s experimentation with electromagnetic pulse (EMP) weapons,”e-bombs”, directed energy weapons that can destroy electrical and communications systems but leave people seemingly unharmed. We interview eye witnesses, an EMP weapons designer, scientists, journalists, policy makers and activists who warn that these weapons are real and may have been used by the US military during its “shock and awe” campaign against Iraq in 2003. While the United States continues to develop and experiment with these weapons of mass destruction, the questions remain: were the bizarre events on Bell Island in 1978 related to early testing gone wrong and were directed EMP weapons at Baghdad’s electricity generation plant the most recent experiment? If so, what are the consequences of unleashing this powerful force? The Invisible Machine pulls back the veils of secrecy to find the answers. / Photo by Kevin Kroeker

I love you and I miss you – Beautiful France / JANE À PARIS I’m taking a trip in a hot air baloon / And I’m flying above France / From the English Channel, to the Alps, to the French Riviera / Come, everyone, to meet her There is Provence with its sunflowers / Its lavender, and its olive trees / In Gascony one sees large fortresses / Look at all the sunny beaches My beautiful France, you awaken in me dreams / And a spirit of freedom / From your snow-covered summits to your rocky coasts / You are rich in diversity / My beautiful France, in the rain or when it’s sunny / Knowing you brings me happiness / And wherever I am, you will be with me / In my heart Here’s Savoy and its ski resort / Mount Blanc in all her majesty / The Loire River flows near the beautiful castles / Each one has its stories to tell In Brittany I see the fishing boats / The ancient rocks, and Mont Saint-Michel / In Normandy, the brown timbers (that stripe the cottages,) / cows, apple trees, / And sails framed by a rainbow My beautiful France, in the rain or when it’s sunny / Knowing you brings me happiness / And wherever I am, you will be with me / In my heart My beautiful France / My beautiful France

Now theres a mix for ya one is fattening and the other one makes you not care. tried to fix one of my fn printers today even Epson didn’t know what was wrong with it after I called. there comment was “we will have one of our techs get back to you on Tuesday”. I thought to my self yeah right, but who knows maybe pigs do fly. The Tacos were well tacos from taco bell, the Vodka on the other hand was tasty if you ever have the chance to find “crater Lake” buy some the best I have ever had real smoooooth. The only photography I did today was scan a sliced tomato, check it out looks pretty tasty. sure hope something sells here quick,I know I have nice pics but it is frustrating when I have 5 sites are displaying my work and only one is selling it. And thats stock work which doesn’t make me rich by any means, but I guess it gets my name out there. well it is off to make some toast nad pour some more Vodka join me won’t you. / I have to look for a job too,I guess it is time since I haven’t worked since last November 2006 after I shattered my right leg after I fell off my roof backwards. But it is nice not having to work but it is time I get off my butt and looked. Thats I need to get all these sites selling my work so all I have to do is travel and shot pics. ok it’s time for burnt toast yummers it rocks.

by Bronwen HydeBack in 1998 I fell in love with the work of Guy Maddin..
Back in 1998 I fell in love with the work of Guy Maddin when I saw Twilight of the Ice Nymphs and immediately preceding it, the documentary “Guy Maddin: Waiting for Twilight”. It wasn’t just Tom Waits husky voice narrating the documentary that washed over me and lulled me into a dazed wonder: watching the extent to which Maddin goes to create his cinematic worlds and then seeing the final, dreamy, glowing product had me utterly enthralled and enamoured. His work has elements of what I love in the work of Tod Browning’s Freaks and F.W. Murnau’s Sunrise and generally has me in a similar state of wonder. As Maddin mentions in the documentary, his films generally just get packed up on completion and sent around the world on the film festival circuit as most of his films don’t attract a large enough audience to warrant general release, though The Saddest Music In The World did manage to break that pattern for a moment. So every year I look forward to the prospect of another Maddin fix, this year being “My Winnipeg”, a mixture of fact and fiction about his hometown. That, Peter Greenaway’s “Nightwatching” and Miike Takashi’s “Sukiyaki Western Django” (spot the odd one out :P) are my most anticipated MIFF bookings. And amongst my various long-intended photographic projects is the intention to create a series of narrative, cinematic images in the style of Guy Maddin and Tod Browning’s films. Maybe one day soon… but for now I just have this one image that’s a sort of trial run experiment. [alternate colour version of this image]

Well, I just bought a new camera. The Pentax K10D. Seems like a very nice camera and has all the bells and whistles. I am in the process of trying to figure out how they all work, but I’m getting there. I made it my ID photo so you can see it. / The only photo’s I have taken with it are the tulips and the window knocker. / / Ok, Now I’ve taken the camera back and I’m waiting for a new Pentax K200d to arrive next week. I had a lot of trouble with the K10d. Every photo was overexposed no matter what I did. It called for a flash in bright sun light. I will compare the K200d with it. If this one is the same I will be greatly disappointed in pentax. Today the 5-23 I picked up my new Pentax K200d. I will be posting photos using that camera soon. I hope it’s better than the K10d I found to be defective.

hey bubble-blowers we all know how close christmas is and this year, having discovered the wonderful land of the bubble that is red, i’ll be making christmas cards to buy from myself to give to my friends and family. i’ll be posting them over the next week or so and they’ll only be up for a few weeks and some will feature characters from my other artworks and stories (some won’t). some of them will be “in-jokes” so people who have not visited may have to go online to fully appreciate the joke. one of my biggest redbubble fans (and of whom, i’m a fan [sentence stucture: out the window!] ) knows full well how much i appreciate the superiority of an in-joke. she knows who she is. have a good day. jake p.s. if anyone who reads this is jewish, or has jewish friends they would like to buy a card for, simply let me know in a comment below and i’ll release a couple dedicated to the 25th day of kislev, the eight days of hanukkah and the lighting of the hanukiah by the shamash.

I will be leaving soon for Europe to attend these shows which I am exhibiting in: “The Revenge of Genres – ” -“Le revanche des genres” -Contemporary Australian Art When: / 13 Oct 2007, 06:00 PM- / Saturday, November 10, 2007 Where:: / Les Brasseurs, Liège / 6 rue des brasseurs, B-4000 / Liège, / Belgium / AND / cite Internationale des Arts. / 9 January – 10 February 2008 / 18, rue de l’Hotel de Ville, 75180 Paris Cedex 04, FRANCE / ++++++++++++++ The title of the exhibition, « The revenge of the genres », refers to the movie Legally Blonde (2001) that denounces with irony the influence of stereotypes on our perception of the world and our own acts. The theme of « genre » – genre defines a general idea or a class of beings or objects that share some common points – allows to explore the multiple identities of Australia : sexual, religious, artistic and philosophical. The reference to this title suggests the difficulty of translating, literally and artistically, the language, the traditions and the cultural differences. What is an exhibition on Australian Art, what is Aboriginal art, are Maori artists living in Australia Australians…? The notion of time will be central to this selection of artworks and the exhibition will present artworks in progress which will interrogate the construction and deconstruction of the definition of arts. Around 20 artists have been chosen for the vitality and the quality of their works: Archie Moore, Rosella Namok, Fiona Omeenyo, Silas Hobson, Dorothy Short, Jenny Fraser, Tracey Moffatt, Richard Bell, Vernon Ah Kee, Tony Albert, Lea King Smith, Helicopter Tjungurrayi, Rachael Rakena, Fiona Foley, Keren Ruki, Haro, Jason Lam and Tania Masson. Some of them are still emerging but most of them have been worldly recognized for more than 30 years : Fiona Foley, Tracey Moffatt, Richard Bell and Rosella Namok. These Australian artists — from Sydney, Balgo, Darwin, Melbourne, Lockhart River and Brisbane — are representative of the cross-over dynamism we find nowadays in our societies. Without forgetting their genealogy and their history, they live the present time, immerse themselves in other cultures and take part into contemporary debates. The artworks we will show take part to this question that artists are really interested in : how to appropriate a world constantly moving and recreating ? Artists will show a selection of pieces representing their art: painting, sculpture, installation, photography, video and sound. All those mediums will be shown, but a large space will be devoted to new media, according to the last trends in Australian and international art scene. Most of the works will be especially created to match with this theme. Masterpieces will be loaned by institutions such as DRAC de Paris, the City of Lorient and private collectors. Contemporary Australian art in collaboration with / Geraldine Leroux, association Diff’ art Pacific and Lucienne Strivay, anthropologist with the U.L.G. “Le revanche des genres” art australien contemporain en collaboration avec / Géraldine Leroux, l’association Diff’art Pacific et Lucienne Strivay, anthropologue à l’U.L.G. The bell doesn’t swing: it’s rung with a hammer-stroke. When standing close enough to touch, the noise is awesome. So large and deep a sound it’s painful in my ears, a sound that thrums itself down the scale of loudness and is still humming when it’s interrupted with the next vast blow. The forest is filled with blue bells and ramsons (wild garlic). I’m very frustrated at the moment my camera gear needs to be upgraded and at ever turn of the road or path I find images presented to me that I want to capture. I have been doing a lot of workshops so my personal work is reverting to photography and finding creative expression in capturing nature and presenting my edited version to others. I love the way blue bells lay a carpet over the forest floor.
