A glimpse into my darker side. Each digital painting is derived from a photograph that I have taken myself. The photographs are my palette to create each computer generated painting. I like the viewer to take from each painting what they want..what they see..how it makes them feel. So I prefer to not disclose exact descriptions of each piece. Of course some are more simple and the title tells all. But do not let the title of my works distract you, as in many of my paintings, you may find more than what the title states.

Detail on wall of Ball Court at Chichen Itza, Mexico. The court was used for a game that has some similarities to modern scoccer. The Captain of the winning team was beheaded at the end of the game. One game could last days. It was considered an honor to have your life taken in sacrifice to the gods. I would have thrown the game myself!

This is Benvenuto Cellini’s famous bronze statue of Perseus after he cut the head of Medusa. It stands in the Loggia dei Lanzi in Florence, Italy. It was made between 1545 and 1554. It was lauded for the sense of realism of the blood pouring “impetuously” from Medusa’s trunk. I carefully extracted the image of the statue from it’s confining background to create this stunning piece. I added the red tone to the gore of Medusa’s severed neck for additional impact.
