  • This is a ruby red lacewing butterfly, and the way it had it’s proboscis inserted into the flower made me think of that moment when we first get a nice thick milkshake, and we are sucking hard on the straw, fighting against the frozen delight to extract it’s sweet creaminess!

  • Nasty Bubblemails

I seem to get my share of creepy and nasty bubblemails and emails. Thankfully not all that often, but often enough. I have always used two tactics with such people. The first is to reply to them “I don’t think that was an appropriate email to send, but seeing as how you do, you won’t mind me publishing it with your email address on my profile.” While this works well as a scare tactic, it doesn’t prevent them from moving onto another victim. The other tactic is to report the offending bubblemail to redbubble using the link provided and let someone objective review it and act. Today I got an (in my opinion unprovoked) email that said: “You are so disgusting !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” This is just the latest. I’ve had much worse: untalented, slut, idiot, you should be ashamed, f words, revolting… the list goes on. Heck, I’m the first to admit when I’ve pushed someone’s buttons wrong but I’m only quoting ‘out of the blue’ type mails here. Anyway… I’m on a tangent. My discussion questions are: What do you think is the best way to deal with people who bubblemail or email nasty things? Do people actually use the report button? And if not – why not? Any good ideas for how to tackle situations where people are not as lovely as they first appear? Where does this type of behavior become bullying or harrassment?

  • Just got an early birthday gift…a wacom graphic tablet/pen MTE450!!! Used with Photoshop7 too. Playing with it last evening, began with a pencil sketch I drew in the early 80’s of a Tiger… I always wrote what I was feeling when I drew and at that time, I was seriously contemplating my femininity, power and the force I was afraid to recognize or reckon with when angry. I would soon, after drawing this, come to find out that my first husband used me as a cover to hide his sexuality from his family, and we would divorce after he beat the hell out of me, while I refused to fight back (out of fear of my own anger and power). I am a survivor, who has since faced The eye of the Tiger / and embraced the shadows of my FEAR (False Evidence Appearing Real) and encourage all who have felt this, to explore the depths and necessity to ‘bring out the beast’ to survive and challenge the notion to hide a powerful force to create change and fight when it’s necessary to stay alive! / Fight for PEACE… /

  • As I awoke to this first day of 2009, I am grateful to the breath of life and the beating of my heart, in rhythm with all those I love, respect and honor. As a peacemaker making resolutions (decisions as future actions), I decided that a RE-Solution was more appropriate, under the circumstances. RE- meaning ANEW and solutions, meaning the solving of a problem. As the vibrational energy sets my heart afire with the light of PEACE, the ONE feeling, being and vibration I wish most for our planet and humanity, I contemplated just how to activate them. Calling forth images of PEACE, I chose 3 images: / This image of myself bathed in the light of peace and love; holding hands with all those I love, honor and respect; and, Nature thriving again and respected by all. I allowed myself to be anchored with the feelings that these images emanated. / I then wondered what these vibrations would smell like and the first thought that came to my mind was Sandalwood, a scent that always calms and grounds me. / My imagination swirled with a rainbow of colors to choose from, that also reminded me of this feeling I wish to emanate, and my personal choice was Indigo, the color that resonates with perception, thought and morality, as well as in-sight. / Choose a phrase, was what ‘popped up’ next in my mind’s eye … as I heard the Dalai Lama say, “When we feel love and kindness toward others, it not only makes others feel loved and cared for, but it helps us also develop inner happiness and peace.” / Synonomous words of Peace to enhance the frequency, choose two…tolerance and non-violence came to mind. / Music always seals the deal for my soul, so choosing a song to accompany this recipe was in order, so many to choose from and low and behold from my 300 CD player, Robert Palmer begins singing It takes every kind of People – so this will be my theme song for this vibration. / What actions or behavior can I do daily that will keep this vibration or light shining, easy answers came…continue meditating and communicating with people around the world. / Writing out these details made them more concrete, visible, touchable and my training knows that if posted around my space and read upon daily (at least for the next 21 days), it will become a regular expression of the state of being that I have chosen for my Peaceful intentions. Inspired with the help of Debbie Ford ;) What images, smell, color, phrase, synonyms, song and behavior do you wish to emanate for 2009? • / I pass a small roadside pond on my way too and from work everyday and on a few occasions, I’ve seen a heron perched either on the shoreline or on a rock that is about 15’ from shore. Today, on my way home from work, I spotted this fellow doing some sort of dance. I quickly turned around, parked my car and quietly walked to the edge of the pond to capture this odd behavior. Typically when I’ve tried to get close to a heron, they fly away on me. This guy was obviously engulfed in his performanceand didn’t seemed bothered by my presence or the other car that drove right up to where I was standing to get some cellphone shots. Now, as for what this bird is doing, here is my theory. The last few days have been quite hot and humid here in the Northeast. Today was in the mid 90’s with high humidy. As I said above, this pond is right along side a very busy roadway with cars and truck speeding by non-stop all day long. I’m thinking that this smart fellow has figured out that if he positions his wings just so, they will catch the non-stop breezes of the passing vehicles and help to keep him cool. As I was taking this and other shots of him, I did notice that he seemed to be panting as well. I did a quick internet search to see if there was anything that would explain this strange behavior, but I found nothing. So, I’m sticking with my theory. If anyone out there has seen this behavior in other herons, please enlighted us. I hope you enjoy this talented fellow. Photographed Aug. 17, 2009, Bow, NH.
