I got to sleep in this morning .. My Wife did not.. She went out with her camera and I went through them and found this. We are going to have fun in the days to come. I can teach her about aperture and DOF. Settings other than P or Auto.. In doing so I will find more in capture I am sure.. so much to learn.. But this color bunch she came up with looked so pretty.. Hope you enjoy.. Perfect Picture For Your Kitchen Area
The delicious crimson of these Begonias looked wonderful hanging up in a basket. Couldn’t resist them
This is a small “slice” of my mother’s garden; she is a master gardener. Anything she plants thrives beautifully, and my father is just as good as she is. He saves watermelon and tomato seeds when he eats at restaurants, dries them, plants them, and harvests a good crop later on. What a wonder my parents are; truly their hearts are in the garden.
Another Strawberries and Cream coloured Begonia- this one with a ‘vanilla’ centre- please enjoy!!
When I discovered this roseform begonia with HUGE 7-inch blooms in a California nursery, I just HAD to copy it with brush and watercolor. What fun! / 9”x 12-1/2” watercolor on Arches 140 cold press, painted with Daniel Smith Extra Fine Watercolors. ©Pat Yager 2008 All rights reserved.

One of our little potted Begonia Plants looking good in the bright winter sunshine. Taken using my Omax Close Up lenses, +4, +2, and +1. / The flower head probably measures less than 1cm across. Hope you like it. Thank you for looking.
Each summer we enjoy this wonderful pink ruffled begonia draping over a hanging basket by our front door. I just have to be sure I don’t put it out too soon, or the neighborhood juncos always build a nest in it. Have you ever tried to water a hanging plant and yet totally miss the tiny nest and eggs in the process? It doesn’t work!

I just finished this painting of one of the photos in my portfolio here called “Cascading Ruffled Begonia.” It’s a great begonia that loves its spot by our front door each spring. Painted on Arches cold press paper with mostly Daniel Smith’s watercolors. / 12”x 10” Below are the paintings and photos on my new 2010 Redbubble calendar:

Non-stop begonias bloom lusciously all summer long – always a favourite of mine. This lovely old vase holds some of these beauties in my friend’s garden who pots up her plants in the most unique containers…from old boots to ancient toasters…. /

Those of you “of a certain age” may recall Elixir Terpin Hydrate with Codeine as a cough remedy from your childhood. I was a sick kid, lots of troubles, and I had my share of that magical liquid. It stopped coughs and brought me rest, but the most exciting part of it was that FIERCE burn as it touched inflamed throat tissues. It wasn’t until decades later (when I worked for a pharmaceutical company) that I full understood what I had been swallowing…and what the elixir part of the magic actually was. For some reason, whenever I see a twinkling waterdrop on a silken petal, my mind takes me back to that burst of flames…so I made this image to convey that feeling. It’s the last of my “small” images. From now on I’ll be working larger…I hope. The base image is a supermacro of tiny begonia flower with fractal images and two photo images and digital painting all layered….compounded (for you pharmaceutical engineers out there…LOL)....in Photoshop Elements 3. One note: The droplet on the petal point in the center was never there. I’m happy to say I “created it.” /
This is a shot of one of my begonias,,,, now sadly frozen,,,,, but in the summer they were stunning! I desaturated the color and bumped the contrast slightly to give it a softer, more delicate almost papery feel…... panasonic dmc lz7 edmonton ab f3.5 / iso 100 / 1/250 sec / flash off / autowb / handheld
