this was a photograph of a tree which i played with levels, many filters, hue /sat etc then I distorted it and mirrored it on itself ,I played with the composition with edit/transform/warp,and put a hand painted distortion map over it a few times…then I put the beetle on….
This is a rarely seen rendition of the asian beetle’s skin after it’s been dried washed in saltwater and air dried. While very valuable, it’s not easy to come by, as the beetle is a crafty fellow, well aware of his value. It’s your good fortune to have stumbled upon this rare artifact!

Dor Beetle (15-25mm) / Geotrupes stercorarius The female burrows under cow and horse manure, which is used as a larder for their offspring. They fly from April-October but mainly in the evenings. Also featured is: Venus Flytrap / Dionaea muscipula Carnivorous plant which catches its prey, mostly spiders and insects by opening its leasves out like a snare trap and encouraging their prey to walk across the trap by secreting sweet-smelling nectar. When they do, they touch the tiny hairs along the inside of the leaves which then trigger a chemical reaction snapping the leaves shut and trapping its victim, which is then digested. The leaf will then open again ready for its next feed. Taken in my kitchen, UK.
