An industrious bee, or possibly a hover fly, giving the little flowers a really thorough going over!
...On my hand
I was very lucky to get a few shots of this Red Tailed Bumble Bee (Bombus lapidarius) as they are getting really scarce here in Scotland

Image Collection for Jack’s Bee Farm Calendar These gentle Italian honey bees were hanging around outside the hive to stay cool on a hot summer day. As soon as evening came, they all went inside for the night. Location: Cave Spring, Georgia Thank you for stopping by to comment on this image. I was going through a lot of my old photos… this one was from the summer and I didn’t notice the bee until now. It made me smile, haha… Enjoy!
Worker Bee. There are 3 kinds of bee’s in each hive. A Queen, drones and workers. Only the Queen Bee lays eggs. All worker bees are female and they do all the work to keep the hive running. If a worker bee loses its stinger, it will die. Unlike worker bees’ drones ( the male bees) do not have a stinger. They spend the majority of their lives finding Queens to mate with. / The worker bees will raise all offspring. Any profits made from the purchase of this piece, will be donated to the Wildlife-appeal / /
I shot this one as a bee was heading in to it! Taken with my Kodak Easyshare camera.
pollen protruding / dangling / tantalising / teasing but where are they / the workers / the pollen takers / honey makers it’s ready / and waiting / so….. / where are you?
This bee was inside my house so I got a glass and a piece of paper, caught it and took it outside. Before I turned it loose, I put the honey on the paper and set the glass overtop of the honey. Once the bee went for the honey, I set my focus and then lifted the glass. This is the only shot I got before it flew away. / D90 and Sigma 150mm Macro lens
