This honey bee on my Ceanothus in my back garden was so weighed down by pollen – and yet there always seems to be room for a bit more!

This is a further interpretation of a previous painting- sometimes I love the theme so much I have to keep revisiting it to do it better. I love the way the rainbow bee- eater’s colours glow against the earthern backdrop- it tunnels deep in the ground to nest, and I love that contrast. This image was captured at Enniskillen Orchard which is a part of the Hawkesbury Harvest and the Sydney Farm Gate Trail. / The photo is straight from my camera, which is one of the reasons I am so happy with it, everything just seemed to work! / This is what I consider to be the first successful insect macro I have taken, I was really happy with the composition.. I hope you like it! / As always it is best viewed large.. / Taken at lifesize (1:1) with a reversed 50mm f1.8 nikon lens..

Well I think so – don’t really know one bee from another apart from some are fluffier- and the Michaelmas Daisies were a buzz with bees of all varieties- so just took the two!
