Beck Wall Art

  • Probably one of the oldest artworks I’ve got up here… done in my second year of uni. Just three of my mates. But this is uniquely one of only 3 actual oil paintings I’ve ever done, on masonite. I always found oils difficult and still do, hence the fussy detail and lack of confidence with the medium. But I intend to have another go this year, maybe on a larger canvas.

  • There are several named waterfalls on Eller Beck and none are easy to reach without a bit of rough and tumble! This one is no different and unusually the path to it ends abruptly causing a re tracing of steps. It is however a lovely spot, the sort of place you’d expect to see fairies (small winged variety).

  • Sunrise near Gold Scope mine, the small res was used to power a pump to drain water from the mine.

  • Contemporary abstract painting /

  • A contemporary urban lifestyle scene (best viewed large). /

  • Contemporary Asian abstract painting /

  • Another shot of this delightful waterfall, it’s setting seems very tropical, it’s a pity the weather wasn’t :-) It was a very misty day, it seemed as if the clouds had enveloped the ground. The scene is lifted by the bright greens of the ferns and newly formed brackens. Maybe too much greenery in shot, not enough waterfall, but I like the atmosphere, you can almost see the mist in the trees. The shot is only partially HDR, it helped bring out the mist in the tree area. WATERFALLS SET

  • Contemporary abstract design /

  • Wasn’t sure what to do… I was working on a portrait photo of this little waterfall on West Beck when I realised that a square crop would show off the movement of water much better… so I decided to post both. I always think that the square crop shows off the detail much better on a computer, unfortunatelyr portrait shots on a computer aren’t blown up big enough to see the detail / The waterfall in the background is Nelly Ayre Foss.. Taken in the North York Moors National Park. WATERFALLS SET

  • Re-worked a shot I took quite some time ago, in order to enter it into the Redfield Plugin people challenge. Initially this started as a 30 second exposure, with me moving to a different spot at the counter every 10 seconds or so. Then I ran it through 2 different Redfield filters, layered both and selectively punched through it here and there (selective coloring). Then dodge and burned a little here and there, and now I am ready for a beer!!!! This has been taken with my Nikon D200 and 18-70mm lens. My art with 1000+ views

  • Aira Beck in the Lake District National Park, Cumbria, England.

  • An early morning shot of Great langdale Beck in the village of Elterwater in the English lake district national park Cumbria. / 3 shot HDR tonemapped image. / Shot with a Nikon D200 and 18-70mm lens. /

  • This river flows from the Langdales through the village of Elterwater into lake Elterwater in the English lake district national park Cumbria. / Shot on our group walk shoot with Jamie Green, Alex and Steve Smith, had a great time.. / 3 shot HDR tonemapped image / shot with a Nikon D200 and 18-70mm lens. /

  • This was shot in Scarborough’s North Bay or more correctly, at the foot of the hamlet of Scalby Mills and is where Scalby beck meets the sea. This father went charging off before turning back to lead his son on while the mum sat on the steps laughing. Converted to try and create the feeling of timelessness in such simple moments of being by the seaside and more rarely lol, in the sun

  • This is the view across the North Bay at Scarborough in North Yorkshire, looking from Scalby Mills beck across to Scarborough Castle with it’s history stretching back into prehistoric times. The sun and clouds decided to have a play fight with the wind this day and the light was a delight. Converted into black white

  • This is the view looking up the steep sided valley of ‘Dowber Gill Beck’ not far from the village of Kettlewell in the Yorkshire Dales. / The peak in the distance is Great Whernside, I actually made it to the summit but as my camera battery died (as always the spare was in the charger on the kitchen worktop!) on the way up you’ll just have to take my word for it! :) August 22nd 2009 / Nikon D40 – 18-55mm, f/11

  • A slightly closer view of Dowber Gill Beck which lies in upper Wharfedale, part of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. 22nd August 2009 / Nikon D40 – 18-55mm – 1/100s f/11

  • All you need to have a great time at the seaside when you are a child, sea, rock pools, fishing net and someone to make sure you get out fairly dry lol. Simple childhood memories in the making at Scalby Beck on the outskirts of Scarborough’s North Bay. A memory of this year’s summer’s passing

  • Taken with a Canon 50D, Sigma 10-20 lens at 10mm, F22, shutter speed 1/8 second, ISO100, tweaked in Photoshop I went for a paddle on Saturday, this shot is of Lingmell beck in the foreground, in the distance are the mountains Kirk fell (middle of the shot) and Great Gable on (right of the shot shrouded in cloud). Lingmell beck feeds into Wastwater which was about 100 yards behind me. Please view large
