Clouds and Sky Reflections / Beaver Springs Slough / North Pole Alaska A stitched panorama of two of my images from North Pole Alaska, Beaver Springs Slough. Featured Entertainment Digital Art 07 September 2007 ~ “When I am Gone Away ~ Sri Chinmoy wrote this song for his students in 1976, and asked that it be sung only upon his entry into Mahasamadhi and departure from this earth. “During the memorial service for Sri Chinmoy yesterday, the song was sung by a choir of Sri Chinmoy’s students in a way that brought heaven down to earth. I love these guys in the winter, I can walk right up to them, and they barely bat an eye!! They don’t run away ?? In winter they keep a hole in the ice open, where they drag large chunks of water lily root onto the top of the ice to eat!! A real treat to see this !! /

This is a Canadian Beaver with a large chunk of water lily root in his mouth. The beavers here keep a hole in the ice open all winter, they pull these giant roots out of the mud from the bottom of the pond and eat them sitting on top of the ice… /

The American beaver is a true Canadian icon whose image even graces one of this country’s most well known coins. Inextricably woven to the early exploration and history of Canada, the beaver generates enormous interest among animal lovers and tourists. I was blessed in the summer of 2007, to have a family of beavers set up their home on Willow Creek where I live. Photographing them was not easy, since they are most active at night. But on this particular clear evening in the full glow of the moon, I was able to capture this image.

Sunrise At Upper Beaver Meadows It pays to get places early, you all shoulda seen the out of state photographers come screaming around the corner in their 2 cars, slamming on the brakes, parking, and trying to lug what seemed like 200 pounds of equipment stuffed into massive LowePro bags when I was shooting this lol Anyways, this was quite a scene and one that I was pretty thrilled about capturing, the clouds just seem to skyrocket by me. Photographed in Colorado’s Rocky Mountain National Park. / Thoughts welcomed! / —-John You can see more of my work on my website at jdebordphoto.com

This is a huge meadow area where beavers have dammed up the creek. It went on and on and on. I liked this spot with the blue, blue sky and the white streaks of clouds. High Sierra, CA Nikon D200, Nikkor 18-200mm VR lens

Photo taken while hiking up the hill in Bachelors Gulch. I’ve always wanted to do B&W shots of Aspen trees, they are always beautiful.

In the winter I am able to get incredibly close to the Beavers in this marsh, who come out of the water through a hole in the ice, to eat the big roots from the water lily. They just sit there and watch you, and I can easily get within 4 feet of these guys, and for the most part they just ignore you !!

Another sunset photo at Beaver Dam in Maine. This one has more color.

Beavers are most active at night, making it hard to get good pictures of them. On this night I was lucky. I set up my camera on a tripod beside the pond, and waited. I was worried that I would not have enough light, but there was a full moon, and as luck would have it, I managed to capture this wonderful image of an incredible animal. Shot taken near the mouth of Willow Creek, on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada.

This animal gives my hubby a run for his money, as the dams play havoc with the water levels of the 6 ponds around the property. / It does remind me, however to make each day count towards the manifesting and/or building our dreams and goals.
