At the Day of the Dead festival, there was even time for a glamour (girl) parade.
Pencil Drawing of a pair of my dancing shoes.
This is by far my favourite image from the shoot. I think this image shows and captures what this whole shoot represents. I wanted to show a modern fashion shoot with a unique style within it. The title of the image is the name of the book that I will be editing togther over the next few mongths. Please leave your comments …

Today, I was browsing the art here, and looking at photographs of some beautiful landscapes. There are some really amazing places on earth, and the best part is that most of them are just natural. No interference from mankind; just small slices of heaven created by complete chance, like a tree bent over from years of wind or a rock that has weathered into a certain shape. Everywhere there is a little beauty to be found. Some of my favourite ‘amateur’ photographers, who I watch here or on deviantart (and really aren’t all that amateur at all) live among amazing scenery. But what about me? Well, I live in a boring little town – the largest part of which is in fact a retirement village – in the most flat and boring county in England, where these days it’s a miracle to find anything that hasn’t been ruined by mankind. Most of the photography I do is portraiture – but unfortunately that’s for my course, and I can’t show it on here, at least until I’ve finished the course. So it seems like situations have left me in the least photographic of locations, with nothing amazing to show you at all. Well, that’s not the case. Some time in the next few weeks, I am going to go out into this retirement hovel, and find something amazing. So there’s a little bit of beauty EVERYWHERE. It might be the colour of a rose bush or the way a train track curves away – somewhere there’s something worth sharing. So here’s what everyone should do: take a walk outside. Don’t go to a mountain or a forest or a lake. Stay right here, the familiar surroundings of urban life, and see if you can’t find something amazing. I guarantee it’s worth the trip.
Now my strength is ten-fold woman, I’ll let you see it if you want to before you go.
The characters in this design are styled on Japanese Kanji characters, but are actually in English. If you look closely, you can read what this tshirt says. In Zen Buddhism, “Kill the Buddha” refers to how one should not worship and idolise scriptures, teachers, or statues, but rather trust in one’s own abilities, in one’s own heart and mind. Obviously, nothing literal should be taken from this design. By externalising spirituality, one can become caught up in acquiring knowledge and spiritual attainments, adding another retreat or technique ‘notch to the belt’, so to speak. Therefore, the idea behind the design is very much related to spiritual materialism. The central character means ‘Buddha’ in Japanese Kanji.
I found this magazine blowing up against a wall when I was taking a walk yesterday. Please note that no pages were turned before taking this photo! It is as seen and was taken in black and white. If you view it larger, you read who she is!
This is one of a few shots I took at a recent Melbourne Strobist Group fashion shoot. Shot at a warehouse location in West Melbourne with wireless Canon 540EZ Speedlites triggered by Cactus triggers. Watch this space for more to come. Shooting Info: / One shoot through umbrella camera left and one light high camera right slightly behind model for hair light. Image processed, cleaned up and colour-graded in Photoshop CS3.
The background to this series of photos is similar to my ‘Billy Boy’ story. I was taking photos in the Bullring centre in Birmingham when Precious, the one on the left, approached me and asked if I was from a newspaper … or something. I told her no, I was just taking photos of the architecture and offered to take some of her and her friend Pamela. They said OK so I took about half a dozen shots and Pamela gave me an email address to send the files to. OK – here’s where the ‘Billy Boy’ link comes in. I sent them off by email, but the address bounced back, not known. The story of my life. I ask you… do I look that suspicious?
From the same shoot as Pamela and Precious previously posted. Taken in the Bullring shopping centre, Birmingham.

The theme was 1930 through 2008, a mix of colors and old style…
This is photo of Jennifer from Tony Ryan’s Empowered Beauty workshop on the weekend. I really love the attitude, passion, texture and light in this photo. I think this is one of my favourites for a while. This weekend’s shoot is my first go at a fashion or editorial kind of style. I am very thankful for Jennifer’s easy going attitude and Tony’s guidance. The title is taken from one of my favourite films as a youngster. The mood and image reminded me of the film..or is it that way cool Harley :) Empowered Beauty Workshops Technical info: / Canon 5d Mark ii / Canon 24-105mm f4 / 70mm / f/4 / 1/800s / ISO 200

The first time I visited this ward – NYE 2008 – I was so deeply saddened to know that high security or isolation wards for children even existed that I felt wrong even considering photographs… The fake jolity of countryside murals taunting pre-teen children with a happiness & freedom they might never know or have known made it all the worse. This time I felt compelled to seek out and correct my actions before this entire monument to state sanctioned inhumanity to man is conveniently lost forever under the gloss & veneer of luxury apartment conversions for the mercenary, materialistic & superficial nouveux riche. The title is a thinly veiled reference to lunacy that BoC fans might understand…
