Satellite, oh, satellite / Who sits upon our skies / How deep do you see when you spy into our lives? I know that god lives in everybody’s souls / And the only devil in your world / Lives in the human heart So now ask yourself / What is human? and what is truth? / Ask yourself / Whose voice is it? that whispers unto you? / From the cellars of your homes / From the tops of your city roofs / Ask yourself / Whose voice is it? that whispers unto you? Who is it? / That turns your blood into spirit and your spirit into blood Who is it? / That can reach down from above and set yours souls ablaze with love / Or fill you with the insanity of violence and it’s brother: lust Who is it? / Whose words have been twisted beyond recognition / In order to build your planet earth’s religions Who is it? / Who could make your little armies of the left / And your little armies of the right / Light up your skies tonight Now some of you may live and some of you may die / But remember / That nothing in the world can kill you inside / For he is thinking of you / In your great cities of great solitude Oh children you’ve still got a lot to fuckin’ learn / The only path to heaven is via hell Good morning beautiful, good morning beautiful / Good morning beautiful, good bye world The The

Aloha ‘oe Featured Art 30 May 2009 Inspired Art Featured Art May 2009 Art by Bubble Hosts Featured Art December 2008 Sea All of the Hawaiian Islands are mountains. The entire island of Maui is an enormous mountain rising up from depths of the ocean floor and surrounded by the vast and beautiful Pacific Ocean. The West Maui mountains are older than the East Maui mountains, specifically the majestic summit of Haleakala, which is one of the highest mountains on earth, a massive shield volcano that forms more than 75% of the Hawaiian Island of Maui, the summit of which is 10,023 feet in elevation from sea level. Mauna Kahalawai of West Maui is the mountain visible in many of my beach images from the south coast of the island and my sunset images from Ku’au and Ho’okipa on the North Shore. This is a composite of my photographs of a beautiful sunset on the golden sands of Po’olenalena Beach, Maui Hawai’i. Visible on the horizon is the sacred island of Kanaloa (Kaho’olawe Island) and Molokini. The sacred O ‘Iao Valley is the most famous valley of this mountain range. The West Maui Mountains or West Maui Volcano, known to Hawaiians as Mauna Kahalawai and Hale Mahina, form a much eroded shield volcano that constitutes the western one-quarter of the Hawaiian Island of Maui.” This archipelago represents the exposed peaks of a great undersea mountain range known as the Hawaiian-Emperor seamount chain, formed by volcanic activity over a hotspot in the earth’s mantle. At about 1,860 miles (3,000 km) from the nearest continent, the Hawaiian Island archipelago is the most isolated grouping of islands on Earth. The Hawaiian-Emperor seamount chain is composed of the Hawaiian Ridge, consisting of the islands of the Hawaiian chain northwest to Kure Atoll, and the Emperor Seamounts, a vast underwater mountain region of islands and intervening seamounts, atolls, shallows, banks and reefs along a line trending southeast to northwest beneath the northern Pacific Ocean. The seamount chain, containing over 80 identified undersea volcanoes, stretches over 5,800 kilometres (3,600 mi) from the Aleutian Trench in the far northwest Pacific to the Loʻihi seamount, the youngest volcano in the chain, which lies about 35 kilometres (22 mi) southeast of the Island of Hawaiʻi. The Hawaiian Islands are that portion of the Hawaiian-Emperor seamount chain that projects above sea level.” Information Source: Wikipedia. Jacob is featured in one of Daniel’s books ~ God of Light, God of Darkness In preparation for the ‘Io Project, (‘Io is the Hawaiian name for God or the Supreme Creator) when Jacob was asked by Daniel to join the team, Daniel had received information about Jacob as he was working with DLNR in land conservation and drug enforcement, and considering that Jacob is Kanaka Kupuna and has a wealth of knowledge about his people and culture, the Heiau’s, the temples and other sacred, historic and archeological sites on Maui, Moloka’i and the other Hawaiian Islands. It was critically important that the spiritual cleansing of the heiau’s on all the islands take place at the same time. Date of the project 14 March 1998. Excerpt from God of Light ~ God of Darkness – Chapter 20 The Mountain Ridge / “Thursday morning, 12 March, dawned; and Daniel was still without a solution to their dilemma. The phone rang; it was Jacob Mau on Maui. Jacob was known as the best search and rescue man on Maui. He had hunted the mountains and back country of Maui since he was a boy and knew the land like his own back yard. He was a major factor in helping the Maui team find several heiau(s). Jacob told Daniel he was helping Pastor Alan Cravallo get permits to go into several remote valleys in Hamakua on the Big Island. So Daniel told him of their unsolvable problem on Moloka’i. Jacob said he would see what he could do and call him back. Daniel didn’t have high hopes. He had already checked out every possible option. But an hour later, Jacob called back. “I got you a helicopter that will land you at the very top of the mountain – FREE!!”. Daniel was stunned! It turned out Jacob had a pilot friend, Mike (last name withheld by request), who owed him a favour. He and Jacob had worked together many times doing search-and-rescue- missions. Getting permits was not a problem for these search-and-rescue pilots. Jacob said Mike was the best pilot in the islands and that he had landed in the Moloka’i high country many times. God only provides the very best!” Ke Akua o ke Ao, Ke Akua o ka Po / The Chronicles of the Spiritual Battle for Hawai’i This photograph cannot be modified for commercial or advertising use, nor can it be copied or reproduced in any form without the photographer’s permission. “In the attitude of silence the soul finds the path in a clearer light, and what is elusive and deceptive resolves itself into crystal clearness. Our life is a long arduous quest after Truth.” Mahatma Gandhi / /
In North America, the eagle was considered great medicine power. To the Native Americans there were different kinds and divisions of eagles. The golden eagle had a very high rank. The most potent and magical was the sky eagle which the Iroquois called Shadahgeyah. Among the Hopi, the eagle god was Kwahu and according to legend, this great bird seldom came below the clouds; only the holiest of shamans ever saw it. Even the Aztecs said this bird represented celestial power and the rising Sun. / Nearly every Native American tribe had an eagle clan. They had songs to the eagle, eagle dances, eagle ceremonies, and even eagle secret societies. If an eagle was seen or even dreamed of during a vision quest, the seeker gained special medicine or spirit power. The person then had the privelege of using the eagle symbol on a medicine shield. The eagle had the greatest power of all birds and was associated with the Sun. They believed it could live in both the spiritual and the earth realms. The Eagle and the Hawk by John Denver inspired this work of two photos merged in Photoshop7.

Many years ago, sometime in the early 1990’s, my husband and I were travelling through Hopi land, outside of Truth or Consequences, Arizona and happened upon a Tribal officer while camping, and we shared a pot of coffee with him. In our conversation, he noticed a basket of sacred white sage, that I usually wrapped while we drove through the countryside, prompting him to telling us about Oraibi, the oldest (still standing) native site in the U.S. He continued by telling us of a gathering there on the following day, and that he’d like to invite us to attend and we wholeheartedly agreed. / We started our morning having a traditional Hopi breakfast of Frybread, black beans and eggs, then we drove up to the Mesas, ignoring the signs that read “No White Man beyond this point”, we drove up a winding road, while I wrapped and was burning sage. When we reached the dwellings, many people were coming out of their homes and surrounding our hippie van (‘78 Dodge). It turns out they had not had white sage (grandmother sage) growing on their land for a couple of years, so when they smelled it coming from our vehicle they had to investigate. Thank Creator that it grew like weeds on our property in California, and we had plenty with us. We gifted several people with wrapped bundles, while others wished to trade for torquoise, blue corn and dye-making instruction. It was a wonderful morning, and we felt good that they mentioned it was a significant gift for the upcoming gathering, which they also invited us to attend. / After eating lunch with a beautiful Hopi family, we drove down the Mesa, following our new friends to Oraibi. When we arrived, there were maybe a dozen people standing around, we got out of the van and an elder man in jeans, a flannel shirt and a bandana around his head, approached us, as I held out a small basket of bundled sage, he just smiled. He took the basket in his roughly worn hands and motioned for us to follow him. We sat down in a circle with what grew to about 30 people, at this time and another man began speaking about the Earth and introduced the elderly man as the authorized spokesperson to speak on behalf of the Elders of the Hopi Nation – Thomas Banyacaya. / I was actually aware of who this elder was, and shocked that I was standing beside him as he was to address a chosen group of tribal and non-tribal (us) members, which was now about 75 people. This humble man would share a message of clear intent and great importance… We are the One’s we have been waiting for… / We have been telling the people that this is the eleventh hour. Now you must go back and tell the people that this is the hour. And there are things to be considered: / Where are you living? / What are you doing? / What are your relationships? / Are you in right relationship? / Know your garden. It is time to speak your truth. Create your community. Be good to each other. And do not look outside yourself for a leader. This could be a good time. / There is a river flowing now very fast. It is so great and swift that there are those who will be afraid. They will try to hold onto the shore. They will feel they are being torn apart and they will suffer greatly. / Know the river has its destination. The elders say we must let go of the shore and push off into the river. Keep your eyes open and your head above water. See who is in there with you and celebrate. / At this time in history, we are to take nothing personally. Least of all ourselves. For the moment that we do, our spiritual growth and journey come to a halt. / The time of the Lone Wolf is over. Gather yourselves! / Banish the word struggle from your attitude and your vocabulary. / All that you do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration. / We are the one’s we have been waiting for.” This artwork is a symbol of the rain deity that I remembered from a rock drawing we saw while at Hopi land, near Betatakin. Drawn, photographed, then painted in photoshop7 (it is also the T-shirt design called Earth Tribe with a slight alteration) All, all and everything is of importance and nothing that is good happens fast. Thanks to my serendipitous sister, owlspook, a link providing the same message ;) New Hopi Prayer

I wrote this last year about reading to writing to knowing the poets heart; dead, alive, makes no matter, when they are read, felt, understood, they are as alive as the reader; sharing an intimate moment as if the poet and reader were in the same room; a quiet, beautiful love affair of words and souls. / At least, this is what I feel when reading the great poetry.
