  • Canon 350 D 17-40 mm lens. Winter landscape with sunset in fog.

  • A winter panorama shot of the valley Valldal on the west coast of Norway, taken during the christmas holiday. Stitched together of 15 pictures. Post-processing: / Stitched some pictures together, obviously. Fixed the contrast with curves, added a lighter curve only on the lower part as the valley was pretty dark, and the mountain tops really light. Added two black and white layers set to hard light (140%), mainly on the sky and the mountain tops.

  • Shortly after the dream, the mountains breathed out a morning glow across the still surface of a murky glacial lake.

  • On our first night in Sweden we were welcomed with a beautiful layer of snow on everything.

  • Bryce Canyon, Utah.

  • I took this on the way home after a Christmas Concert by the Big Rock Singers and just had to share it right away. We have had a dump of six to eight inches of heavy wet snow lasting all day, causing me to shovel several driveways several times today. However, the absolute beauty of freshly fallen snow mixed with blue Christmas lights makes up for any of the day’s toils. Hope you like it.

  • I think the moment I have been waiting for finally arrived. It was a beautiful winter’s day along the shoreline at Lake Michigan. The first thing I thought of when I came across the scene was pristine. Two lonely trees standing proud amongst the snow covered sand dunes. I thought they look so pretty against the fresh fallen snow and beautiful earth tone colors of the dune grass and blue sky. Taken in the late afternoon, Northwest Indiana. I might add also its was so cold out was so glad to get back to the car LOL. My second out with the Sigma and I think I’m in love with this lens. Nikon D80 Sigma 10-20 mm lens taken at F10 1/320s 16mm. Jan of 2009. Thanks for looking. © Curtiss P Simpson

  • How beautiful the snow flakes are and we have many of them in England at the moment.

  • Beautiful Bella appears from her ‘nest’ in the hayloft to confront the snow filled morning. Taking her time to survey her domain before descending the iron ladder to come in for her breakfast – whilst she ponders she has acquired a dusting of snowflakes. She sleeps inside a large tin trunk in the corner of the loft – it is filled with a soft fleece blanket and surrounded by straw and hay from days long gone – it is her place of solitude and retreat from visitors and the other cats! It’s hard to believe that she was so ill just a short time ago – it is just wonderful to see her so well and happy again!

  • There is a place in Germany where a castle was built and eventually led to the inspiration of Disney and it’s fantasy castle! A beautiful shining sun was shining above as I captured this iconic image! I hope that you love castles!!! I do! Camera: Casio Elixim EX Z1080

  • It was a beautiful day on this day. This is a re edit of my And Then There Were Three which is in my gallery. I thought it would look nice in a pano view with the trees that looked as if they were reaching towards the sky. I took this back in Feb of 2009 along the shoreline of Lake Michigan, Northwest Indiana. Nikon D80 Sigma 10-20mm lens used. F10 1/400 10mm. Thanks for looking. © Curtiss P Simpson

  • Nikon Coolpix P80 Featured in Cards : Animals and Pets Group, thank you moderators. Top 10 placement in Cards : Animals and Pets challenge, Straight in the eye. Thank you voters. Taken at Mogo Zoo on the south coast of New South Wales, where they have successful breeding programs for several endangered species. In the wild, these beautiful gray leopards live in the mountains of Central Asia. They are insulated by thick hair, and their wide, fur-covered feet act as natural snowshoes. These cats have powerful legs and are tremendous leapers, able to jump as far as 50 feet (15 meters). Snow leopards use their long tails for balance and as blankets to cover sensitive body parts against the severe mountain chill. Snow leopards prey upon the blue sheep (bharal) of Tibet and the Himalayas, and mountain ibex found over most of the rest of their range. Though these powerful predators can kill animals three times their weight, they also eat smaller fare, such as marmots, hares, and game birds. One Indian snow leopard, protected and observed in a national park, is reported to have consumed five blue sheep, nine Tibetan woolly hares, twenty-five marmots, five domestic goats, one domestic sheep, and fifteen birds in a single year. As these numbers indicate, snow leopards sometimes have a taste for domestic animals, which has led to many deaths of the big cats at the hands of herders. These endangered cats appear to be in dramatic decline because of such killings, and due to poaching driven by illegal trades in pelts and in body parts used for traditional Chinese medicine. Vanishing habitat and the decline of the cats’ large mammal prey are also contributing factors. Source : National Geographic. Mounted Print /
