Antelope Canyon is the most-visited and most-photographed slot canyon in the American Southwest. It is located on Navajo land near Page, Arizona. Antelope Canyon formed over the course of millions of years by erosion of the Navajo Sandstone, primarily due to flash flooding and secondarily due to wind erosion. Rainwater (especially during monsoon season) runs into the wash that Antelope Canyon is part of, picking up speed and sand as it rushes through the narrow passageways. Over time the passageways are eroded away, making the corridors wider and smoothing hard edges in such a way as to form characteristic ‘flowing’ shapes in the rock. Lower Antelope Canyon, called Hasdeztwazi, or “spiral rock arches” by the Navajo, is located a few kilometers away from the upper Antelope Canyon and is a more difficult hike. This intimate, bright yet dark, static yet flowing, autumn themed image was made in Baxter State Park, Maine, USA in October 2006. I like the contrast of the flowing water beneath the still branches, the pop of color from the remaining birch leaves, and the juxtaposition of the branch atop the stream in tone and color! /

I am lucky enough to live right next to a forest so I took the kids bush walking and got this photo of the sunset through the long grass.. I just really liked the golden tones and I had a different grass image but have taken it down and replaced it with this one.

Second, beams (shafts of direct sunlight radiating down from openings in the top of the canyon) are much more common in Upper than in Lower. On the 12th day of May 2008 I witnessed (along with thousands of others) a perfect circle in the form of a rainbow around the sun at about noon-time at a beautiful place in the Philippines. Completely perplexed, stunned and amazed at this extraordinary and divine sight, I HAD to create this artwork. Im not sure where you were or what you were doing at this same moment of time but I guess this is all we have. Small pigments of time all squeezed together. And if we’re blessed enough, we get moments like these and realise even for a second the gravity of God’s love. There were no photo’s taken at the time and all I had available to me was the memory of this moment… The moment my heart burned. Print available. / Vector digital art created in illustrator.

The bindi is for spiritual insight. The red sky at night is a sailor’s delight…for a red sky at night indicates smooth seas on the morrow! As a fisherman’s daughter, I have witnessed the strange phenomena of a red sky numerous times….always turns out to be calm on the water next day – a great indicator.. red skies are a great indicator of smooth sailing ahead
