Captured along the Mount Evans Wilderness in Colorado, this is one of those waterfalls that kind of sneaks up on ya outta the blue, and if you blink, you actually miss it. I really don’t much in the way of long exposure shots, but after being happy with how this one came out, I am going to start doing them more. Hope ya all like it! Here is the image following ‘Red Ribbon’. My little girl worked out how to open the heavy back gate and thought she could escape into the big park at the back of our new house. Despite its name, this is not actually a canyon, but rather a giant natural amphitheater created by erosion along the eastern side of the Paunsaugunt Plateau. Bryce is distinctive due to its geological structures, called hoodoos, formed from wind, water, and ice erosion of the river and lakebed sedimentary rocks. Surely one of the most treasured spots to sit and watch as a new day breaks. Lake Louise, Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada / July, 2009 Lake Louise, set in the Banff National Park in Canada is perhaps known as the Diamond of the Rockies for no other reason than its sheer beauty alone. Having arrived in Canada on the previous afternoon after a long trans-Atlantic flight, the idea to beat the effects of jet lag were adopted with a 3am alarm call and the chance to shoot Lake Louise in all its splendour at dawn. Following a 45 mins drive from Banff accompanied along the way with storms over the mountains lighting the otherwise black night sky, we arrived at Lake Louise in good time for sunrise. Some may know the lake as a bustling tourist spot with coaches coming and going throughout the day. Dropping off their cargo at the water’s edge to take in the majesty of Louise before whisking them off to a further destination all to the sound of clicking shutters and the gentle whir of digital handy-cams. For Claire and I the experience was to sit alone in silence; the only guests at Natures matinee performance… The dedication to early starts could not be better rewarded.
