Beauty Of A Thorn This well-known thistle is a true nightmare to all the local farmers. At one point I think there was even a law passed saying that people could be fined if it was found growing unchecked on their property. / It is such an invasive plant that it will take over an entire pasture or field, and farm animals won’t/can’t eat it, and it’s a real problem in the hay. / On the other hand, its a blessing for the many butterflies that migrate through this area, and it provides much-needed food and energy for the pretty little creatures that have such long flights ahead of them, or maybe are just at the end of their life spans. / I have also noticed that hummingbirds love it as well. Being a photographer, I do love its exotic blooms and the many photo opportunities it provides. / The sad but true thing is, the only way to control it is to destroy it completely! It’s amazing that something so beautiful and so useful for the nectar lovers, is also such a thorn in the side for the farmers. / Photo taken along a road side in NW Arkansas, USA. I shot this with my Rebel XT in raw in late afternoon light. Used Corel Painter Essentials 4 and a Wacom Bamboo tablet to create an oil painted look. In Corel I used thick oil, captured bristle, tapered camel brushes and also worked over it with soft cloner and bristle brush cloner to bring a touch of the original photo back where I wanted a bit more detail. Once again my beautiful daughter, Jessica, for the model.

/ Media – pencil, charcoal, pastel, watercolour pencils, photoshop / Substrate – paper The young lady is The Bird Whisperer, she holds a small injured bird in her gloved hands….. his wing is broken from a fall he suffered when attacked by a larger bird….as the little birds are considered prey…..but he will be okay now he is in the care of ‘The Bird Whisperer’......she is gentle and kind and knows how to heal the little bird’s wing so that he will fly again From the “Connections” Series of new pencil drawings that reveal the connection between ourselves, each other and nature, I hope you like, thank you for looking ;)

Third in the series… three drops.. nothing too special. I shall explain the crazy set-up for this one… I had the tiny green spring (which was strung with seed beads) resting on a CD with a shiny gift bow as the background. I used a syringe to place the water drops and used my flash as well. Haha, it makes sense to me! Enjoy!

18×24 acrylic on canvas I painted this one for The Divine Feminine’s challenge “Loving Ladies”. This is my favorite goddess of Love, Lakshmi. This is not your traditional painting of Lakshmi, for instance, I didn’t give her 4 arms. But I think it captures her beauty and femininity. Lakshmi is also the goddess of beauty and wealth. She is kind of like the goddess of the law of attraction. In truth, Lakshmi teaches us to accept our beauty and to find true happiness in the realization of the abundance of our soul. Day Dreaming
by IngzCanon 350D / F/5.6 / 1/400seg / ISO-100 I was sitting day dreaming on my varanda and this most beautiful (and the biggest) butterfly that I had ever seen came to visit my Bougainvillea. When I realised I wasn’t still day dreaming (as I never get the honour of such beautiful visitors) I ran inside to get my camera half expecting she would have already gone!
