  • The Three Sisters – Katoomba, NSW Australia Legend of The Three Sisters The Aboriginal dream-time legend has it that three sisters, ‘Meehni’, ‘Wimlah’ and Gunnedoo’ lived in the Jamison Valley as members of the Katoomba tribe. These beautiful young ladies had fallen in love with three brothers from the Nepean tribe, yet tribal law forbade them to marry. The brothers were not happy to accept this law and so decided to use force to capture the three sisters causing a major tribal battle. As the lives of the three sisters were seriously in danger, a witchdoctor from the Katoomba tribe took it upon himself to turn the three sisters into stone to protect them from any harm. While he had intended to reverse the spell when the battle was over, the witchdoctor himself was killed. As only he could reverse the spell to return the ladies to their former beauty, the sisters remain in their magnificent rock formation as a reminder of this battle for generations to come. . / . / / . / WARNING / ©2008 Globalphotos All rights reserved. / All photographs, text and images by Globalphotos are the exclusive property of Globalphotos – protected under Australian and international copyright laws. / These images may not be reproduced, copied or manipulated without written permission. / No use for Public Domain. / Use of any image for another photographic concept or illustration is a violation of copyright.

  • Almost my final moment !!! I think I lack the “fear” instinct of most people. Wentworth Falls, Blue Mountains World Heritage National Park / NSW, Australia 2008

  • Sold as a greetings card June 2008 / Another one of my Haweswater views across the reservoir.. / Shot in the English lake district. Haweswater is now one of the largest lakes at 4 miles long and 1/2 mile wide, and has a maximum depth of 200 feet . It is the most easterly of the lakes, and has no settlements on its shores. In 1929, despite many petitions against it, a bill was passed by Parliament authorising the use of Haweswater as a reservoir for Manchester. A concrete dam, 1550 feet wide and 120 feet high was built, and this raised the lake level by 95 feet. All the farms and houses of the villages of Mardale and Measand, and the Dun Bull Inn were pulled down. Coffins were removed from the graveyard, and buried elsewhere, and Mardale church was demolished. At times of drought, when the water level is low, many people go back to see what is left of the village of Mardale.

  • Ula Aloalo Hanohano Tropical Red Hibiscus Kahului Maui Hawai’i Fine Art Photography by Sharon Anne Mau SOLD 1x Laminated Print: Ula Aloalo Hanohano for a Tropical State of Mind / Large / Black Border with Artist’s Details / It is a beautiful greeting card! It would look lovely matted and framed displayed on a wall in your dining room! / ! It is believed that there are only five species of Hibiscus that originated from Hawai’i. Other species found their origin in Asia and the Pacific islands. In the early twenties, the Hibiscus Brackenbridgei was adopted as the official Territorial flower of Hawai’i. It kept this status throughout the 20th century, but only in 1988 its yellow colour was defined as the official colour for the Hibiscus representing the State of Hawai’i. Before 1988, the official Hibiscus could have any colour. Additionally, it was not until 1988 that the flower could represent the State of Hawai’i, because before that time the territorial status of the group of islands was unclear. Hawai’i’s state flower (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis) originated in Asia and the Pacific islands. Interestingly, it is also the national flower of Malaysia. Research suggests there were originally only five species of the tropical Hibiscus that were native to Hawai’i. Growers began to hybridize these native species with other varieties imported to Hawai’i, which produced the huge kaleidoscope of colours and sizes available today. There are several ways to tell the difference between the tropical and hardy perennial varieties. Tropical hibiscuses have dark green glossy leaves, sporting 3-4 inch flowers that are either single or double in colors of yellow, orange, pink, or red. Also, tropical hibiscus can have blossoms of salmon, orange, yellow, or peach with double flowers. Hardy perennial Hibiscus have foliage of medium-green with leaves that are heart shaped. Their flowers of white, red, or pink are much larger than those of the tropical Hibiscus. Many hibiscus aficionados increase the number of plants they have by using cuttings, a practice known as cloning or asexual reproduction. Select the best tips; look for good leaf color and a robust upright growing stance. Water the plants in the morning before taking the cuttings. Use sterilized shears. Count down about 4 leaf nodes to where the stem starts turning from light green to brown. Make each cut at a 45 degree angle just below a leaf node. Remove the lower leaves from the cutting, as well as any large top leaves. Dip the point of the cutting into a rooting stimulant, and then insert them into the growing medium only as deep as necessary to keep them upright. The cuttings should be fully rooted by the end of 6 weeks, and can then be transplanted. If the cuttings have been rooted in a green house, they should be hardened off before transplanting, by switching them to regular irrigation, and moving them out into the sunlight during the day, and back indoors for the night, for a few days. This is a hardy perennial Hibiscus Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi / Shooting Date/Time 21 Apelila 09:42:53 / Tv( Shutter Speed ) 1/200 / Av( Aperture Value ) 7.1 / ISO Speed 100 / Lens EF28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM / Focal Length 135.0 mm

  • PLEASE READ THIS. Taken in a Gypsy settlement close to Kallakurachi. India. Some of you will know me through my Writings and photographs of Extreme poor in Remote and Rural villages in Africa, and correspondence here on RB. God called me in 1994 to go and share his Message with the poor, disadvantaged and outcast, I have with great passion and little Financial support being doing what he has commissioned me to do. [My Passion in life is to reach as many poor and disadvantaged in Remote and rural villages with the Gospel of Jesus, and provide practical help and care]. I have with the help, Prayers and support of precious people worldwide been able to not only share Gods message of salvation, but provide Tools, Clothing, Bibles, Some School fees, Seeds, Medicines and other needful things to empower them to live better lives. Recently here on RB in the past two years, God has blessed me with many new precious friends. I thank God for you all. In Uganda during 2001-2003, God used me to expose Children being sold by extremely desperate and poor families, to those who had money and who they thought would give their child a better life. I detest this, yet in most cases, not all, the parents or carers could no longer provide for the child. With their government unable, or unwilling to help, they look to those outside their community and tribe for an answer. In India where I and the Philadelphia Charity are now working with NARI-KOR-AVARS gypsy tribe, I came across several cases of children for sale. I personally have been offered children. One for sale and one to take home to Britain and care for her. The reason why I am sharing this with you is that the above Photograph is of one such child. Some of you will experience feelings of Unbelief that this happens, and others strong emotions of anger and disgust. I am asking you to have a thought for the Mother of this child and pray for her. In extreme poverty, Outcast from Society and treated lower than a dog, almost everywhere she goes. She has tried her very best to provide food and shelter. She is sick in body and wept genuine tears of sorrow, as she asked me buy her child for for 5000 Rupees = $100. Please help us to help these precious parents and carers with tools, seeds, Clothing, income, practical help, so tey never be in the position of giving away or selling their child as a last resort to saving that child and giving it a better future. This is happening not just in India or Africa, but in other countries also. Some sell their children purely for selfish gains. But I have not yet met any. those I met are heartbroken and doing something that must be unthinkable to any of us . 100% of all money raised from sale of any of my art, or donations made via our charity website goes to help extreme poor in Africa and India. PLEASE STATE IF YOU MAKE A DONATION VIA BMAIL, IF YOU WANT YOUR DONATION TO GO TO INDIAN GYPSIES AID OR TO EXTREME POOR IN AFRICA.
