A planned get-together with a mate fell through. So instead my son and I went to the beach and took advantage of some magical light and conditions to capture the coast during winter time…. Here’s a photo of my little girl taken noon today basking in the warm sun at the local beach. I just find this image very relaxing
Another image taken yesterday at the local beach, it’s quite simplistic really so I would love to hear some opinions.
Looking south from Caves Beach Jervis Bay. One of these “I don’t believe this” moments. One of the problems with Royal NP (where I shoot most of my photos) is that it’s under the flight path for Sydney airport which is a problem at night because I end up getting lots of distracting light trails from the planes (there is often no more than 90 seconds between one plane flying out of a frame and another flying in). Given it takes 10 minutes to start getting decent star trails you end up with 10 plane trails in the shot. / So me and my partner headed south to the almost equally gorgeous national park at Jervis Bay 2.5 hours south of Sydney. Whoopee I thought – no planes. And then, just as I pressed the shutter this tiny light plane flew into frame. My first reaction was #$Q #%$## what do you have to do to get away from aircraft and I nearly closed the shutter. But then I thought just leave it and take another shot after this one. So I left it and it turned out to be my favourite shot of the start trails I took that night. The white glow is the Milky Way and the orange glow is from a village on the other side of the bay. / Tv: 619secs / Av: f/3.5 / ISO: 200 / FL: 17MM / Canon 30D
I really loved the rock face and it’s intense colour and texture so I had to share! This was taken near the Mornington Pier during a sunset.
Beach Bride is a mixed media production on canvas textured paper / I used ink, pastel, acrylic and charcoal, I used layers of thick white paint to achieve texture in her veil and wedding skirt
Sales of this Design? – 2 sales so far :) / / Wintersun by Karin Taylor / Mixed Media on canvas textured paper / Ink Pastel Acrylic Charcoal / Beach Series I loved creating this piece, the design aspects are colour are strong, and it is reminiscent of a design on a dress that my mother made for me, actually we had mother and daughter dresses in the same material and wore them out on special occasions….

Worth the click to Large – many more stars await you. Fourth in the Sea Storm series shot off Bundeena Cliffs Royal National Park just south of Sydney. It was quite a sight watching the storm gather momentum under this brilliant starlit sky. This shot is actually the third in the sequence and comes between this one and this one Canon 30D / Tv: 20secs / Av: f/3.5 / ISO: 800
Tonight’s sunset at Merewether Beach. Canon EOS450D / ND400 filter / ISO100 / f/8 / 50sec Processing: / Add a gradient filter to bring out some detail in the sky. Then / Duplicate Layer, set blend mode to Overlay and go Filter>Other>High Pass and use a radius of approx 20 pixels. Click OK to accept. Hold down the Alt key and add a new vector mask at the bottom of the layers palette to assign a black (hide all) mask to the layer. Then its a matter of selecting the paintbrush and painting back in the detail on selected parts of the image. I chose the sand/rock in the foreground and the clouds. Finally add a Vibrance layer to pump up the colours a tad and finish with some noise reduction if necessary. ;0)
A beautiful Teenage girl leans over a railing by the ocean and flicks her hair. Beautifully captured in black and white with lots of bokeh as the railing gently goes out of focus.
Yup, that’s what it is…a sunset from the rocks on Schoodic peninsula in July…so wonderfully mellow there…possibly my favorite place. That’s Cadillac mountain in the distance (the main part of Acadia National Park). Schoodic is the ‘quiet’ part of Acadia, less frequented by noisy tourists… / This area is threatened by a proposed 3000+acre ‘eco resort’ for the rich to be located on and just off this peninsula…an Italian investor wants to build it…it would totally destroy the beauty and peacefulness of this wonderful place…the locals are mostly opposed to it, but in the ‘land of greed’, where there’s money to be made for those that already have too much, you can be sure it will eventually happen, sadly… ~ please view large ~ Schoodic peninsula, Acadia National Park, near Winter Harbor, Maine, US / 7/09 / Canon EOS T1i, 18-55 (18), auto landscape / thanks for the look, my friends! Just another day …...... Rota Island – August 2009 / straight out of the camera / Life on this island is friendly and unhurried and the hospitality is as unforgettable as the magical sunsets. Rota Island is a natural playground with around 3000 inhabitants and is known by many to be Micronesia’s best-kept secret / Rota (Chamoru: Luta) also known as the “peaceful island”, is the southernmost island of the United States Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) and the second southernmost of the Marianas Archipelago. It lies approximately 40 miles north-northeast of the United States territory of Guam. Songsong village is the largest and most populated followed by Sinapalo village (Sinapalu). In 1521, the first European to see Rota, was the lookout on Magellan’s ship Victoria, Lope Navarro. However, Magellan’s Armada of three ships didn’t stop until they reached Guam, so the first European to arrive in Rota (in 1524), was Spanish navigator Juan Sebastian Elcano, who annexed it together with the rest of the Marianas Archipelago on behalf of the Crown of Spain. Rota has diverse flora and fauna.. / Wikipedia ©2009/2010 Globalphotos All rights reserved. / All photographs, text and images by Globalphotos are the exclusive property of Globalphotos – protected under Australian and international copyright laws. / These images may not be reproduced, copied or manipulated without written permission. / No use for Public Domain. / Use of any image for another photographic concept or illustration is a violation of copyright.
