Actually, who are you not to be? / You are a child of God. / Your playing small does not serve the world. / There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. / We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. / It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. / And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. / As we are liberated from our own fear, / our presence automatically liberates others.” by Marrianne Williamson ~ excerpts from Reflections on the Principles of A Course in Miracles. I use only my own images to create composites, matrix panoramic images and digital art, therefore I own full copyrights on all my work. This is one of my favourites. This is the where the current reflects off objects in the stream, and creates the dance of light and sound. / And there, / just below the surface, / a fallen leaf waits patiently, / taking a little respite from its journey down stream. Soon enough, the water will shift again, and an upward current will likely bring it back to the surface. / Soon enough – but until then – it is art. / We call it art, / nay, / together, / we make it art. / But of course, first we must notice … “The moment one gives close attention to any thing, / even a blade of grass / it becomes a mysterious, awesome, indescribably magnificent world in itself.”—Henry Miller And what of it? / Well, listen closely. / Can you hear the notes … / the melody? / I can. / So soothing, / so moving. / As you lean back and soak up the afternoon sun, / smell the pine bows, / feel the damp soil with your hands, and smile. / Something connects. / Nothing else to do. / Nowhere else to be. / This is where you belong, right here, right now. / What of it, indeed … It’s waiting for you, / just below the surface of our work-a-day world. / There, / just below the surface, / where you are protected from the current that is trying to sweep you along, / to jostle for your attention, / to whisk your day away, / in the never ending lists, and the stuff that must be done. Listen again, more closely. / Isn’t that your song? / Don’t you recognize it? / It is in us all, somewhere deep within … / “To live content with small means; / to seek elegance rather than luxury, / and refinement rather than fashion; / to be worthy, not respectable, / and wealthy, not, rich; / to listen to stars and birds, babes and sages, / with open heart; / to study hard; / to think quietly, / act frankly, / talk gently, / await occasions, / hurry never; / in a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious, grow up through the common ~ This is my symphony.” ~ by William Henry Channing

  • Wain Wath Force is a waterfall situated on the River Swale in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, North Yorkshire, England. The falls are located at grid reference NY883015, one kilometre upstream from the hamlet of Keld which has three other waterfalls in its vicinity, namely Kisdon Force, East Gill Force and Catrake Force. The falls in the north of England are often termed “Forces” after the Norse word “Foss” which means waterfall. / Wain Wath Force is not a substantial falls; it has a drop of only around 1.5 metres as the river flows beneath the limestone cliffs of Cotterby Scar. Despite its modest height it is popular with visitors, the Coast to Coast long distance footpath passes the falls on the north bank of the River Swale while the main motor road up Upper Swaledale passes on the south bank. / Shot with a Nikon D70s and 18-70mm lens /

  • The medicine of Moose is primal feminine energy and the magic of life and death ~ a positive force representing a willingness to “Tell the World” about her feelings. Self~Esteem, the joyfulness that comes with accomplishment without the need for approval and the enjoyment of sharing that comes from the deepest part of one’s being is the wisdom of Moose. / Moose medicine people have the ability to know when to use the gentleness of Deer and when to activate the stampede of Buffalo, as they understand the balance between giving orders to get things done, along with the willingness to do things themselves. / So, if you have happened upon this photo and itmakes you feel good, you have probably accomplished something on your journey…broken a habit, completed a goal or task, or youhave a new sense of self that you have fought hard to earn. You should be feeling harmonious pride and recognize those who helped you attain your process and progress. This photograph was taken, as is, at an undisclosed location in Alaska, by my brother (who wishes to remain anonymous). Alison

  • “Floating on Clouds” was shot in Goulds Newfoundland Canada. This is The Dory in natural light. I was talking to a friend about shooting “The Dory” and “Floating on Clouds” and how I used a polarizer to bring out the clouds on the water (as seen here) and removed it and used a flash to shoot “The Dory”. I was wondering in hindsight what I would have come up with if I had used the polarizer and flash at the same time. I know I would have given up about up to two stops with the filter which would have meant a slower shutter speed and the boat was moving, ever so slightly, so it may not have worked out? But maybe next time, live and learn! • Watercolor, ink, paper “Awake, north wind, and come, south wind! Blow on my garden, that its fragrance may spread abroad. Let my lover come into his garden and taste its choice fruits.” / (Songs 4:16) It is difficult for the Soul to lose the height of comfort reached, even though all her sacrifices are like tiny beads slipping through her fingers in comparison with the divine reward of His love. The good works the Soul does for Him are not what delights God, but her herself when she remains in Him. The Bride answers to her Beloved: “Whatever wind is blowing: dry north, burning my garden, or gentle south breeze, whatever hardships enter my life, I say – Come, my Beloved, the garden belongs to You only. I will follow You wherever You call me. Let my life be like a table generously laid for You and Your friends.”
