Quite a beautiful sunset, which can turn even ugly behemoths into things of significant beauty! (well i think anyway :) / This is a pump jack in the Jackson oilfield, South West Queensland.
This is one of my favorite shots of the whole trip. Not just as an image to view, but as being able to enjoy the process as well. I took this on Friday the 13th. We had just made it to the campsite earlier on in the afternoon and had finally gotten around to getting camp setup and were hanging out around the fire. The night was perfect, the stars were out, and the moon was nowhere to be found. So after everyone else had gone to bed, I loaded up into the trusty Montero and headed out to take some night shots. This one is by far and away my favorite of the group that night. The trip out to this location was part planning, part luck. Seeing as in order to get out there you have to go over some pretty tricky 4-wheel drive trails, that during the day look like what you might expect the surface of Mars to look like. This was no easy feat (But it was damn fun). Once I finally got out to this location about 20 minutes later, and parked the Montero on an insane incline, I setup the tripod, setup the composition the best I could with the flashlight, and started shooting. My first shot (which I will post later) was a 5 min test shot to make sure I had things lined up properly. After a few adjustments I started this shot. 30 minutes and a quick nap in the Montero with the heater running later I finally had this shot. Like I said, it’s one of my favorites of the trip, and I hope you like it as well.
Star of the Sea by Karin Taylor is a card taken from an original painting on canvas textured paper using mixed media, ink, pastel, acrylic and charcoal. From the Beach Series Here we have a spunky mermaid with a guitar slung over her back, lazing about on the deck of her timber boat…....taking some time off on this occasion, from luring sailors and ships to her watery lair…... there is something of the Madonna about her… hence the name ‘Star of the Sea’
Ah, little boat basking in the light of the glowing moon, enjoying the end of the beautiful sunset for the evening. ;-)
Well, kind of. This is as near to an apocalyptic scene as Cleethorpes is ever likely to get. Until the apocalypse, that is. But that’s not coming for at least 2 years, so this will do in the meantime.
Window display with reflection. Love the expression in her face. She looks so alive.
I got bored one day and decided to use my macro lens on something other than flowers, haha… so I had some old costume jewelry…and here we are. Sigh, someday I’ll have some real diamonds.
instead of pushing thru crowds in the Casino we decided instead on a delicious double cone gelati & a long walk along the Yarra. Of course l aint tell’en what gifts we bought at Sexpo ;-P XXXXXX
