Yup…here i am again. Lauren La Rouge- fabulous Sydney based Burlesque performer. / This latest shoot with my favorite model/performer started disastrously with my studio flash not working and my backup dying as well. I had a professional hair and makeup artist in and it was all a bit embarrassing. However, I plowed on, abandoning the lighting ideas I had been toying with and using the light from the two spot lights on the ceiling and concentrating on pose and composition. / This is where photoshop and digital photography is such a revolution. / I salvaged a bad situation and created images that I am very satisfied with.

The title of this work derives from a latin word meaning ’ to feel ’ which is something I think all good art should make people do. The flowers are humble carnations which most people find fairly ordinary yet here they have a dignity and beauty of their own. This is a rather old work from my archives and I have a print of it that stands 180 cms tall framed in heavy dark wood. This is one of my favorite b/w photo’s and never mind its age I think it stands the test of time rather well. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have over the years. this looks great framed.

Anything can roll downhill, someone observed nicely, the truth which I proved on that day overwhelmed and fatigued after a visit to a great museum. Across the pampered grass, around the mature trees and just below the rugby balls I strolled through the massive park hoisted as a horizontal sail of greenery among the endless medley of man made structures. The Domain, that’s how locals like to call it. And here within this oasis I stumbled unexpectedly on a relic from an old millennium, an edifice with charm to spare, a perfect medium for times gone by fantasia. No single soul around, the welcome side effect of being on holiday and out of sync with the rest of the working population, you can take your time, sit down and admire the artistry behind its appearance, the visual substance far above the aesthetic torment of modern architecture. This sight alone is more than enough to satisfy every soul’s daily dosage in beautiful imagery, mine included. I was particularly intrigued with its glass roof and the ghostly appearance of the tall trees through it, swiveled by the eastern winds, the same ones that brought the drizzle and a salty smell of the Hauraki Gulf. How wonderful. That’s the best thing about a trip without destination. Regardless of the direction you choose you always end up in the place you intended.
