Thought it looked almost like the leaves in the puddle were falling onto the trees…..seemed kind of magical to me :)

  • Sales so far – 1 sale, thank you! / Steer II (Missy Higgins) / / Pencil drawing, digital colouring The Golden Elephant – story and art by Karin Taylor / A long long time ago in a tropical land where the papaya grow wild and free, there lived a golden elephant who’s beauty was unsurpassed. All the creatures were mesmerised by what appeared to be the sun entering the water when she swam and when she walked on the land everyone stepped aside, as elephants were revered. Legend has it, the golden elephant was once a beautiful warrior princess. Once, in midst of of a terrible battle with her enemy about to take her life, she made a wish that she could become an elephant, for then no harm would come to her. The beautiful warrior princess was granted her wish, tho could sadly not return to her human form, and so it was that the golden elephant lived forever, bringing warmth and light wherever she went. During the darkest nights when the stars hid and the moon disappeared, the beautiful golden elephant shone like the sun, lighting the way for pilgrims on their journey. Although very happy she got what she wished for, the golden elephant found herself still thinking the grass was sometimes greener on the other side. Indeed she would have liked to be human again. But she accepted her new role and did the best she could with her gift of light. • Dancing with the Moon / / original pencil drawing in keeping with my New Year’s resolution here’s the first upload on a Wednesday evening!! I managed to only colour one this week, and it feels great… i spent more time on it, and enjoyed other activities, such as drawing and time spent with family … i am really happy with how this worked out she’s ‘dancing with the moon’ – i used mechanical pencils on A2 or A3 paper, inspired by an image i saw in a magazine of a geisha from the hind view…. and my woollen plait i use for reference all the time (i made this plait from a ball of wool…as i always have trouble drawing plaits) and i think it’s inspired by the vintage look…I just love adornments and romanticism..and i think it’s such a lovely thought to be lost in a dream and dancing with the moon like this, on a beautiful night….. we had a beautiful full moon the night after i completed this, and it felt like i was in synch with the moon

  • Out photographing in the breeding grounds of Monarch Butterflies near Millicent in the Limestone Coast region tonight. This small butterfly sat calmly and quietly while a fellow photographer gently lifted the stem up towards the light. It reminds me yet again of how beautiful delicate and amazing nature is if you just take the time to look around you…. Thanks to Amy and Tayla for the company. • / Get the TShirt Tears from Heaven / / The Peacock Empress is a drawing created a couple of days ago, while at the surgery with my daughter, i had a vision of it which impressed strongly in my mind, and i was able to draw it once I got home. The idea was the Empress was rising up over the waters. There’s lots of symbolism in this, but it’s purely for my own benefit and the viewer may decide how the symbolism relates to them…the colour has been done in Photoshop. She has almost taken on the look of an oriental style “Luna Park” entrance at twilight, might be a nice design for those who celebrate “Chinese New Year” and/or collectors of asian inspired/related art

  • PLEASE TAKE A FEW MINUTES TO READ THIS. I am an Irish artist and missionary working with extreme poor in Africa and India. In this one camp 52 children suffer from Intestinal worm infection, and the death rate is very high. This is due to lack of clean water. The is Akuti, an Indian gypsy girl aged 11 years. Her name means ‘Princess’ and she really is a Gypsy princess. But she, like almost all of her people, the Nara_Kar-Avars (gypsy children), are treated with contempt and rejection, and denied even the basics of life. To be born a Gypsy under Hindu religion is to be born into the lowest of the lowest casts. / Known as Outcasts and treated as Untouchables, Akuti and many millions like her face a life with little hope. / She has never gone to school, as her parents barely earn enough to feed her, and cannot afford the £70-$130 per year they need for school fees, uniform and text books. My passion and mission in life is not just to pray and preach to these precious people, but to provide clothing, and the cost of school fees, medical care, and provide tools to help them earn or make a living. / The Philadelphia Mission is a small underfunded, yet effective British charity doing just that in India and Africa. We need you, my friend, to help us do much more. Become part of this mission today! Sow a seed into the life of Akuti and other children in real and terrible need. All PROCEEDS from the SALE of my ART, or DONATIONS made VIA our CHARITY WEBSITE GO to HELP EXTREME POOR and SICK in ISOLATED and RURAL VILLAGES in AFRICA and INDIA. / We TAKE NOTHING out of what YOU GIVE to the Philiadelphia Mission Charity for our Overhead or Support at all. We are NOT SALARIED and we each COVER our OWN expenses, so ALL that YOU GIVE GOES to these CHILDREN To make a donation, or find out more, Please visit our Charity Mission website* / (http://www.philadelphia33.org/) “See 4 DVD CLIPS of our work in Africa and India“:http://www.youtube.com//PhiladelphiaMission(http://www.youtube.com//PhiladelphiaMission) Camera: Canon EOS400D. • My Harlequins are acting strange because they are “dying”, becoming extinct…we don’t want them anymore, we don’t need them anymore…:( / People forgot to laugh, people forgot to smile…the society does not make any effort to bring back the “rainbow colored” good disposition. / The Harlequins have so much to give to us, all we need to do is take it…all they want to see that we are happy. / Why to live if we can not give…..? THIS IS THE LAST PIECE I PAINTED IN 2009!...:( Original: / Acrylic on Canvas Panel, 12/24in. Available. 319 views as of Jan. 29. 2010. This painting was FEATURED in the “Art For The World” Group on Dec. 15. 2009.
