This is a great walk to go and do! It’s not to hard and you see beautiful things the whole way! How to get there… Commencing from the Leura Cascades Picnic Area make your way to the information board from which you will observe a concrete pathway descending to the left. Follow the pathway as it travels beside the bubbling Leura Cascades creek. You will approach a small footbridge, at this there will be an intersection, you will note a weathered signpost indicating the direction of Leura Cascades, from this point head downhill to the Cascades. As you descend the fern covered stairs (handrails for support) to the Cascades you will hear the sounds of rushing water as the creek picks up speed. At the bottom, the Cascades are best viewed from beneath a rock cave looking back up the Cascades. A brief sidetrack can be made from the Cascades by following the path for a short distance to a lookout directly above the Bridal Veil Falls. Return to the picnic area via the same pathway.

  • I wonder where this path leads? During a motorcycle trip to Georgia, I passed by this scene and just had to turn around. The ground fog was just wicked, it was shrouding this path which I presume belongs to a rural farm. Taken with the Nikon D300 and Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 lens. HDR processing and Orton effect applied, as well as some dodge & burn.

  • / This work was inspired by the wonderful poem UMBRELLA of the very talented artist ANAISNAIS / Thank you Anna-Marie for let to share this beautiful poem here. ’’ UMBRELLA / / by Anaisnais There she stands / Centre stage for all to see / Tall and slender / Precariously she balances. I reach out for her / Draw her to me / My hand skims her body / Slowly reaches her skirt. Playful fingers find hidden areas / Delighted her legs spring forth / Displaying the very beauty / Of her delicately placed, adorned skirt. Gaily she dances around / Dizzily twisting and turning / In the brightness of day shading / She gently tends to my needs. Personal ballerina takes to toes leaping / Merrily bobbing up and down / As emotional to her performance / Clouds cry a thousand tears for her. Reaching our destination / Slightly shaken, she leans / Watches me, / Quietly drips, against the wall. Reminiscent of the day’s fulfillment / We acknowledge one another, silently / Restful knowing we shall be / One, once more. ’’ I truly appreciate all your kind comments and support. / All Origional art work can be purchased through the artist. —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-——- Copyright notice: / All rights reserved. • This one has been sitting unfinished on my PC for a few weeks, I was just not sure what I wanted to do with it until last night when I was reminded of the beautiful song “Autumn Leaves”, originally by Edith Piaf (in French, naturally), but beautiful also in its English translation as below. This was one of my favourite songs to sing when I was a teenager and I have wonderful memories of singing this to the beautiful piano accompaniment played by my cousin Anina. :) This is a mixed media piece in which I digitally combined a roller ball drawing I did for the purpose, with a chalk pastel drawing and photographic textures and brushes. Proudly New Zealand-made. :) Featured in Imaginative Realism, Sept 26, 2009. / Featured in Dimensions Oct 11, 2009. / Featured in Inspired Art Oct 18, 2009. Autumn Leaves Artist: Eva Cassidy / English Lyrics by Johnny Mercer and Music by Joseph Kosma The falling leaves drift by my window / The falling leaves of red and gold / I see your lips, the summer kisses / The sunburned hands I used to hold Since you went away the days grow long / And soon I’ll hear old winter’s song / But I miss you most of all, my darling / When autumn leaves start to fall Since you went away the days grow long / And soon I’ll hear old winter’s song / But I miss you most of all, my darling / When autumn leaves start to fall I miss you most of all, my darling / When autumn leaves start to fall

  • This was taken up at the Ornamental Gardens in Summerland BC, shortly prior to my run-in with the sleeping bears. I was sad to cut my photo taking short, as the colours were absolutely crazy beautiful! This is a very busy image…...and it breaks all the rules…..but what the heck :)
