Wahine is a pencil drawing which I’ve coloured in digitally. By this I mean that her work has an Asian style together with a – may I say ‘cutesy’ feel to it. The work has elements of deail, fun, asian culture – which all come together in a great portfolio of work. My single nomination which is incredibly difficult is Wahine. I chose this particular piece ocs of the great detail in the eyes of the work. It reminds me of anime in Japan. PLEASE READ THIS DESCRIPTION. [AS IS} / I am a missionary, born in Northern Ireland and living in London. my passion in life is to help the poor in rural and isolated villages in Africa and India. Abhijeet in Hindu language means “one who is victorious, a star”. She certainly lives up to her name. 3 years old and already has faced abuse, and hunger. She was close to death and in much pain. Abijeet is one child we rescued through The INDIAN NEW LIFE MISSION, based in India. Her smile melted my heart and as I was told her story I could not help give God thanks for the few Indian Christians that reached out to her. With little money, they took her into the Orphanage, where now she is cared for. I now have sponsored Abijeet and for only £10 per month, she is fed, clothed and will attend a full education when she is old enough. I do not get financial funding from any Church, My own income is little. But I made my mind up a long time ago to share what God has blessed me with with the poor. I have not gone hungry, nor my family. I rent my home, and drive a car. My children are all educated and blessed by God. I have lacked nothing,because blesses the sower. Gods burning Love and Passion for the outcast and poor burns deep within my heart, and hopefully can be seen throgh my life and camera lens. Abijeet is a shining star and a true testimony of what Love and sharing can do. Please Pray for me, that I can bless many more suffering children like Abijeet. Strengthen my arm in Gods mission to reach the hurting of this world with his love and care. Pray and do what the Lord lays on your heart. You will become richer for it. / In my goal to portray women in all guises and emotions, here is the latetst addition to the collection..”The Temptation”....we all know what the feeling…temptation comes in many disguises…is she the temptress, or has she been tempted?make of her what you will… / When I was halfway through painting it, I remembered a picture I had seen in a magazine advertising lipstick….the model had her fingers on the open lips…. I thought they would be a perfect addititon to the painting, but I needed to see them again, just to be sure…. I frantically dug through my recycling bin (luckily we are having a garbage strike and everthing is still here) and found the picture…..the fingers were just what I needed…it was apparent that the picture had been buried in my subconscious, just waiting to emerge in this painting….I made the modifications to the image and here it is Acrylic and watercolour on Fabriano Paper.. 613 views…33 Favouritings.. The Golden Elephant – story and art by Karin Taylor / A long long time ago in a tropical land where the papaya grow wild and free, there lived a golden elephant who’s beauty was unsurpassed. All the creatures were mesmerised by what appeared to be the sun entering the water when she swam and when she walked on the land everyone stepped aside, as elephants were revered. Legend has it, the golden elephant was once a beautiful warrior princess. Once, in midst of of a terrible battle with her enemy about to take her life, she made a wish that she could become an elephant, for then no harm would come to her. The beautiful warrior princess was granted her wish, tho could sadly not return to her human form, and so it was that the golden elephant lived forever, bringing warmth and light wherever she went. During the darkest nights when the stars hid and the moon disappeared, the beautiful golden elephant shone like the sun, lighting the way for pilgrims on their journey. Although very happy she got what she wished for, the golden elephant found herself still thinking the grass was sometimes greener on the other side. Indeed she would have liked to be human again. But she accepted her new role and did the best she could with her gift of light. The moral of the story – be careful what we wish for
