  • The “Sculptures in the Living Desert” are located near Broken Hill in New South Wales. They are an amazing place to visit on a wintery dawn.

  • played around with some extension rings

  • This fantastic image was also taken from my home in Tucson, Arizona.

  • I shot this just a few moments before dawn off the Bundeena Cliffs at Royal NP just south of Sydney and a 15 minute walk from where I live. / This section of coast in Royal is just magnificent and I keep getting drawn back to it night and day – can’t imagine how many hours I’ve spent up here just sitting and gazing out to sea or taking pics. There are actually some hermit dwellings built into the side of the cliffs during the 1930’s Depression which are now derelict. I can fully understand why people built them. Wouldn’t mind setting up residence myself (but I love my running hot and cold water too much lol). Tv: 1/6 sec / Av: f/ll / ISO: 100 / FL: 10mm / Canon 30D

  • Captured out on the plains of Eastern Colorado at Sunset, they just went on for miles and miles….like a fantasy world of never ending Sunflowers..processed in HDR

  • Canon 350 D 17-40 mm lens. Winter landscape with sunset in fog.

This work was featured in Live, Love, Dream. The background (sky and water) is a photograph of clouds I took during summer 2007 just before sunrise. I never really figured out what to do with it. Inspired by the dreamy tune of Catch A Fall by 4 Strings. I had this song on repeat while I made this.

Beautiful dawn – melt with the stars again. / Do you remember the day when my journey began? / Will you remember the end (of time)? / Beautiful dawn – You’re just blowing my mind again. / Thought I was born to endless night, until you shine. / High; running wild among all the stars above. / Sometimes it’s hard to believe you remember me. Will you be my shoulder when I’m grey and older? / Promise me tomorrow starts with you, / Getting high; running wild among all the stars above. / Sometimes it’s hard to believe you remember me

  • I’d like to be able to say that when I was composing this shot I saw the plane taking off out of frame and worked out its trajectory would take it just over th e sun as it was rising, but I can’t :-(. Truth is I was so focussed on the rising sun I didn’t even notice the plane til I downloaded the shot and started working on it. So this is actually a tiny crop of the original landscape orientation I shot it in. One of those serendipitous moments you don’t even notice at the time. Taken from Bundeena Cliffs, Royal National Park just a few moments after Streaming to the Dawn. Another stumble upon going through the archives. Canon 30D / Tv: 1/15sec / Av: f/11 / ISO: 100

  • It was foggy Sunday morning. I would usually stay in bed, but it was so foggy that I couldnt pass up the chance to get some shots. I raced in my car to a cemetary near by but the gates were locked so I had to go to a nearby park and make do. It was taken with my Nikon D70, processed in photoshop with very liitle being done apart from being converted to black and white and then a ward filter added. Oh and I went back to the cemetary when it opened and got this….... / http://www.redbubble.com/people/theymademedoit/art/1774916-3-arnos-vale

  • Surely one of the most treasured spots to sit and watch as a new day breaks. Lake Louise, Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada / July, 2009 Lake Louise, set in the Banff National Park in Canada is perhaps known as the Diamond of the Rockies for no other reason than its sheer beauty alone. Having arrived in Canada on the previous afternoon after a long trans-Atlantic flight, the idea to beat the effects of jet lag were adopted with a 3am alarm call and the chance to shoot Lake Louise in all its splendour at dawn. Following a 45 mins drive from Banff accompanied along the way with storms over the mountains lighting the otherwise black night sky, we arrived at Lake Louise in good time for sunrise. Some may know the lake as a bustling tourist spot with coaches coming and going throughout the day. Dropping off their cargo at the water’s edge to take in the majesty of Louise before whisking them off to a further destination all to the sound of clicking shutters and the gentle whir of digital handy-cams. For Claire and I the experience was to sit alone in silence; the only guests at Natures matinee performance… The dedication to early starts could not be better rewarded.

  • 8/13/09 ~ Featured in the Canon DSLR Group ~ Thank you very much!!!! Untouched photo – This morning at dawn, I took this picture of my Cosmos as I was heading to work. It was a misty morning with very low light so it has a grainy look, but I liked it. / Natural color and light. Taken 8/12/09. Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XSi / F stop: F/5.6 Exposure: 1/50 sec. Focal length: 187.0 mm / Flash: flash did not fire, Shutter speed (Tv): 5.6 / Polarizing Lens used

  • Another from my foray down to Barwon Heads. Camera: Canon 5DMKII / Lens: Canon 16-35 f2.8L / Focal Length: 16mm / Aperture: f18 / Shutter Speed: 1.3 seconds / ISO: 100 / Filter: 3 stop hard + 3 stop soft Lee ND Grads / Post Processing:Photoshop, blending, limited saturation. This is a blend of two images in Photoshop. The first had all this water movement in the foreground, but a very ‘nice’ shadow of myself against the bluff. The second was identical but didn’t have the good foreground and the shadow. / Although the image has been saturated slightly, the intense colours are mainly due to the use of the Grad filters.

  • Tree Skeletons shot at Dawn, in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, USA, reflected in a pool. I shot this before the sun broke through the mist, as I liked the blueness emphasising the coldness – there was a few degrees of frost that morning. / The image I processed from a RAW file, I felt was a little plain, so I gave it a touch of Orton, which drew out the dead tree silhouettes. Still not happy, I added a texture, to enhance the fog, not too much, since I didn’t want to spoil the ‘soft’ feel of the image. / I can recall the quietness of the early morning as I stood in awe of Mother Nature’s magic ! Shot on my Canon Eos 40D, mounted on tripod, f23, 1/60 sec, / no exposure compensation, the meter read the scene correctly, auto wb, RAW file processed in Adobe RAW, then in CS3, Orton applied with reduced opacities, and a texture, downloaded for free off the internet someplace, applied with discretion, by again reducing opacities etc. SEE MORE OF MY USA SET ….
