  This is a photo extract of a statue by Baccio Bandinelli. It was intended by the Medici to be better than Michelangelo’s David, but fell far short of that goal. Benvenuto Cellini called Bandinelli’s work “a sac full of melons”. Cacus was the fire-breathing giant slain by Hercules as his tenth labor. This statue is at the far end of the Piazza della Signoria in Florence, Italy
