My heart beats to what rhythm? I ask, and where? / It’s the same at all pulse points, like sounds of a snare; Yet, I have no drumsticks or pedals, it seems / as if nature has a part, in this beating scheme; I will venture outside to investigate closer / connections to this pounding, and its composer; I look to the sky, not the same rhythm there, / then look to the ground, and kneel as in prayer; The beat’s getting stronger, so I lay down to rest, / the bass beating deeper, like out of my chest; Caressing the Earth, soon the rhythm entwines / it comes from this planet – a harmony divine; Convinced of the bond, between earth and sky, / I look up again, as Spirit Eagle flies by; With drum made of elk hide, with my own hand, / I begin beating rhythm, for Mother Nature’s band; I asked and pursued answers, until I believed / I deserved confirmation, so musically received; I’ll become ‘her’ drum major and advocate peace, / so the beat goes on further than my nephews and niece. WindOwl 2007 Earth Drum Ten Billion BEATS is asking for your drumming heart to participate in a plan to circle the Earth with a resounding rhythm of unity for all peoples, all faiths, all nations and all hopes and dreams. By joining in celebration with others, we will send a wave of focused intent through every time zone around the globe. Friday, September 18, 2009 at 7pm for one hour of drumming about 4 beats per second, which corresponds with Theta range of human brain activity. The INTENTION: Focus on non-doctrinaire, non-political, non-religious intention. As we all drum we will hold this thought sending it around the planet and beyond on a not so silent pulse. As we celebrate, there are no enemies, only those whom we wish the following… / PEACE to EARTH – GOODWILL on HUMANKIND

NEVER SQUASH A KILLER BEAT!!!

i thought i’d try some layering in photoshop. i’ve never done this before, and i did not take the picture of the model, or the checkered floor with textured wall.. all the images are off of deviant art. this kind of art i tried was inspired by myoriginalsin [check out her work its incredible!] i’m not nearly as good as her but i wanted to see if i could do it. i hope you guys like this. it took well over an hour to get it right. what i did was / 1. i searched the stock on deviant art for the background, the model, and the hearts. 2. i dragged the photo of the model over to the background picture and erased all the access background from the picture of the model [the forest area she was originally in] 3. i dragged the heart over and turned it to “sketch” so it looked like a pencil drawing. i wanted it to be transparent 4. i merged it all together 5. i played with the contrast and lighting effects. 6. i desaturated it so it wasn’t as vibrant with the models skin tones [it didnt mesh well] 7. i saved it! that is how i did this piece of art.

Ink on 120 gsm Cartridge Paper (A4) digitally reversed (one of my first digital experiments) I did this doodle whilst in hospital. I’d had some ‘funny’ heart beats and pains, hence the title. I rocked up at the emergency department of our local public hospital with a huge bag of art materials; ready for a 4-5 hour wait…..but, as soon as I mentioned pains in my chest…..well I didn’t even get to sit down, I was taken straight through and hooked up to all these monitors. So I spent the next 4 -5 hours in a bed (much more comfortable than the waiting room). I’m sure I have ‘Obsessive Creative Disorder’ because I can not stop drawing, creating, painting, doodling…..and no stay in hospital was going to stop me. I’m sure this was the most healing part of my stay as it really relaxes me.
