This is my attempt at such a design :) (For those who don’t know, kuma=bear in Japanese) simplified version: http://www.redbubble.com/people/hikickry/t-shirts/3792889-1-kuma-02 white version:http://www.redbubble.com/people/hikickry/t-shirts/3792915-1-kuma-white

cades cove in the great smoky mountains is notorious for the black bears. i am happy to say, this year has been an excellent year for viewing them. they have had food, and the park hasnt moved them out like they were caught doing last year. / yesterday morning shooting in the cove, i am upon a mama bear and her two cubs feeding in a cherry tree / this mama was after a particular branch, and she went up and down for it, finally chewing it off. / best if viewed larger

FEATURED in Bears Of The World! and UnlimitedQuality! on Aug 22/09. Thank you so kindly to the hosts of Bears Of The World and Unlimited Quality! On a mid summer’s early morning a lone Black Bear can be seen among some tall glowing grasses in Yellowstone National Park. In this photo the has a dandelion in her mouth and her eyes already on another one. I don’t really know if it is a female bear for sure, but due to the relatively small size and adorable more feminine appearance in my opinion, I believe it is more likely a female. We spotted this same bear in the same field two mornings prior to taking this photo, but finally on our third visit here, she ventured close enough to capture better shots of her! As you can see, she has quite a chunck missing from one ear and she is still yet in a rather thick unkept winter coat in mid summer. If one watches her walk, they can’t miss a distinct limp from a sore right front leg. It is my hope that she heals up and gets enough nutrition before it is time for hibernation. Inland Bears are smaller than their coastal cousins, due to a coastal bears’ diet which includes salmon, which is rich in fat. I doubt this little bear was more than 90.7 KG (200 lbs). / Bears are omnivorous, eating anything that comes their way, grass, fruit, berries, roots, mammals, birds, carrion, grubs and ants, fish, frogs, etc. “ABOUT THE PHOTO” Taken on July 24/09 at 9:20am Vancouver Island time ( 10:20am Yellowstone time). / Taken in Yellowstone National Park, US. / Taken in Raw. / Camera; Canon 40D / Lens; Canon EF 100-400 mm IS USM. / Iso 800, 400 mm, f/5.6, 1/640 / No cropping!
