Canon 20D – 17-40mm L – 17mm – 1s – f/11 Antelope Canyon is the most-visited and most-photographed slot canyon in the American Southwest. It is located on Navajo land near Page, Arizona. Antelope Canyon formed over the course of millions of years by erosion of the Navajo Sandstone, primarily due to flash flooding and secondarily due to wind erosion. Rainwater (especially during monsoon season) runs into the wash that Antelope Canyon is part of, picking up speed and sand as it rushes through the narrow passageways. Over time the passageways are eroded away, making the corridors wider and smoothing hard edges in such a way as to form characteristic ‘flowing’ shapes in the rock. Upper Antelope Canyon, called Tse bighanilini, “the place where water runs through rocks” by the Navajo, is the most frequently visited by tourists, due to two considerations. First, its entrance and entire length are at ground level, requiring no climbing. Second, beams (shafts of direct sunlight radiating down from openings in the top of the canyon) are much more common in Upper than in Lower. This idea was taken from my young childhood days sketchbook . / Sometimes i used to go in a big field, away from it all.. / with my skecthbook and paints, looking up at the sun, to me the sun’s rays used to look like all these sparkling, and dazzling rays, coming towards me. With the fields and corn everywhere, i used to see patterns and images , as the breeze blew them into this and that shape, or is it, and always be, the fact i just have a creative head with illusions in me, .............. don’t know, will anyone ever understand how i see things….......

Gerroa is an idyllic village at the Kiama end of Seven Mile Beach on the south coast of New South Wales … their sunset on Tuesday (6 January 08) was aided by smoke haze from bushfires in the Morton National Forest. After a day in which temperatures reached 40 degrees celsius and beyond, it was a pleasure to have the surf lapping my ankles as the sun slipped behind the mountains. Shot taken minutes after the sunset over the snow covered Lake of Two Mountains, Oka Quebec, CANADA. I particularly liked how the sun’s rays created a vertical light beam into the sky. Beverley Minster, East Yorkshire, UK. Beverley Minster, in Beverley, East Riding of Yorkshire is a parish church in the Church of England. It is generally regarded as the most impressive (architecturally speaking) church in England that is not a cathedral. / Originally a collegiate church, it was not selected as a bishop’s seat during the Dissolution of the Monasteries; nevertheless it survived as a parish church, and the chapter house was the only major part of the building to be lost. It is part of the Greater Churches Group and a Grade 1 Listed building. / The Minster owes its origin and much of its subsequent importance to St John of Beverley, who founded a monastery locally around 700 AD and whose bones still lie beneath a plaque in the nave. The institution grew after his death and underwent several rebuildings. After a serious fire in 1188, the subsequent reconstruction was overambitious; the newly heightened central tower collapsed c. 1213 bringing down much of the surrounding church. I love sun rays and yesterday the clouds arrived so I decided to burn my retina and shoot towards the sun. Nikon D40 18-55mm with circular polarising filter. Artistic filter add in PSP as there was slight pixalation which I wanted to get rid of!
