Rottnest Island, Western Australia – a break in the stormy weather.

It is a rare occasion when there is no wind blowing the palms, and there are enough clouds over the ocean to create a dramatic sunset at this location. I spent a week’s worth of evenings in this area before the conditions set up perfectly. Technically this is a series of 5 long exposures layered. I was using a 10mm lens on my little Canon XTi. It worked. This beach is in an area where there will soon be plenty of new construction, sadly. The “old” Maui is slipping away, and it breaks my heart. I hope images like this will preserve the pristine flavor for future generations.

Maluaka is a place on Maui where there is a comforting daily cloud cover reaching out from the high slopes of Mt. Haleakala and extending toward the island of Kaho’olawe . Without this protective cloud, the scorching equatorial sun would be relentless. I noticed this sunset beginning to happen, and I grabbed my gear and sprinted to the rocky Maluaka coastline just in time to make a nice capture.

Oshie, a rescue dog, checks out the beach during a beautiful sunrise on the beach in Port Orford, Oregon. Oshie is a shepherd mix who loves to run on the beach… and roll in unidentifiable dead things that she finds. She somehow became unwanted by her former owner when she was only about a year old. A re visit today to the shipwrecked sailing vessel, “Pisces Star” that came aground over ten years ago near the Lighthouse at Carpenters Rocks, Limestone Coast, South Australia. Extremely low tide today and great sky’s allowed for some close up shots with my backside sitting in salt water…. Canon 400D – 18-55 with CIR Polarising lens.

To have a good friend, take their hand… and walk on the beach. This is a story.. of best friends who happend to marry best friends who both have two year olds. The girl is my daughter Summer and her best of friends Matthew. Thank you Larissa for calling this to my attention. I have been away on vacation with limited internet access so I will be catching up soon. I just couldnt resist this shot as I was mulling through my picts of the week spent with friends and family. Taken in the Outer Banks of NC. WOW! Thank you all so much for the comments, and favs. This is a very special image to me. I’m thrilled so many others took the time to take a visit. Rota Island is a natural playground with around 3000 inhabitants and is known by many to be Micronesia’s best-kept secret / Rota (Chamoru: Luta) also known as the “peaceful island”, is the southernmost island of the United States Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) and the second southernmost of the Marianas Archipelago. It lies approximately 40 miles north-northeast of the United States territory of Guam. Songsong village is the largest and most populated followed by Sinapalo village (Sinapalu). In 1521, the first European to see Rota, was the lookout on Magellan’s ship Victoria, Lope Navarro. However, Magellan’s Armada of three ships didn’t stop until they reached Guam, so the first European to arrive in Rota (in 1524), was Spanish navigator Juan Sebastian Elcano, who annexed it together with the rest of the Marianas Archipelago on behalf of the Crown of Spain.
