pandanus trees silhouetted against sunset at the beautiful north end of North Stradbroke Island. ‘ / tis a gorgeous little chunk of Australian scenery and a perfect place to end any day! Or begin one..
Natural sand pattern left by receding wave on a steep sloping beach. Five Mile Beach, Wilsons Promontory National Park, Victoria, Australia. Contrast enhancement only. Resemblance to a primordial forest with primitive type trees is fascinating. Patterns are renewed with each incoming wave and tricky to capture at the best moment before the next wave wipes it over and drains out again. Each ‘picture’ only lasts a few seconds. This is yet another Kimberley shot. I was taken my the colour contrasts and starkness of the landscape. This is a pretty small boab tree but contrasted the vivid red dirt and blue sea near Broome.

/ Holstein Friesians / Bega Valley Holstein Friesians are a crossbreed of 2 types of cow. Friesian cows were originally from Friesland in Holland and first arrived in Australia in the 1850’s. These big cows are black and white and produce lots of milk. As farmers are paid on the amount of milk they produce, Holstein Friesians are quite popular, making up more than 60% of Australia’s dairy cattle. They can cope with a broad range of temperatures and conditions.

A Watercolour painting of one of the beautiful views of Wilsons Promotory. Wilsons Promotory is the Southernmost tip of mainland, Australia. The area features sandy beaches and sheltered coves, coastal dunes and swamps It could almost be an island with 80 miles of coastline except for the connection to the mainland at its North East corner. The surrounds are also home to many wildlife including wombats, koalas, wallabies, emus and kangaroos. A peaceful walk along its sandy beaches to refresh one’s soul and bring you closer to nature is surely a desire for all. A stroll alone along the sand / soaking in nature with its magic wand / the air is crisp the day is new / briskly walking enjoying the view….

Well as you can see from the images below, The Empty Studio has been all about inks…my inks had been put away for so long some of them had dried out, and had to be discarded, but I still have an assortment of acrylic inks, and have been using mostly sepia and black for this collection… Today I added a bit of colour to this latest painting of Hollyhocks…they seemed to need it…I’ve had the sketch forever in my files, and I don’t know where it originated, but at one time I did grow these regal flowers in my garden and maybe the idea came from that time of my life Acrylic Inks on Cotton Paper… Silently a flower blooms, / In silence it falls away; / Yet here now, at this moment, at this place, / The world of the flower, the whole of / the world is blooming. / This is the talk of the flower, the truth / of the blossom: / The glory of eternal life is fully shining here. / - Zenkei Shibayama..
