after many many hours and km’s…. this storm was dead and I thought I had missed a ‘dream shot’. The lightinging had become so sparse it seemed ridiculous even sitting on the beach to watch, yet alone be set up to photograph lightning ! / But alas ! this storm had one final freak discharge to exult to earth….ahhh….patience and persistence. :) / / / EOS A2, Fuji Velvia 50. / ©T.Middleton2008 —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / / / / / see more of my weather related photography by clicking below / /

Carved By Nature’s Wrath / The 12 Apostles, Victoria Following a day of torrential rain and gale force winds, the sun shone momentarily, lighting up the moody sky, before plunging the rugged coastline into complete darkness. As night falls, a solitary waterfall is all that remains of the passing storms, returning the much needed rain to the swollen seas of the shipwreck coast. This shot was taken on an overcast and rainy day at Flynn’s Beach in Port Macquarie.. I had to take a shot as the colour of the water was a very nice blue-green.. I was also happy with the way I captured the wave crashing on the rocks offshore.

Twilight storm at Lido Key beach. The two brightest celestial bodies are the Moon and Venus. Because of the storm most people cleared the beach, but because of the storm, I was drawn towards it. I did not get another good shot of lightning that evening – I forgot to bring my tripod, so the photos prior to this one are too blurred. I captured this clear shot by setting my camera on a beach chair, and propping up the lens with one of my flip-flops. And this stroke of lightning was the last significant one. But I’m sure grateful for it! I didn’t modify the picture except to increase the brightness and contrast a bit, and remove camera artifacts. I’m not too good at making photos look more ‘artistic’, but for landscape, atmospheric, and flower photos, I think I prefer the more natural look. / (Photo taken on July 17, 2007)

Here’s an old photo of my little girl converted to b&w..It was a hot summers evening with an approaching storm.
Looked out of the window yesterday evening – thought the sky showed some promise – so tootled off to Black Rock, near Barwon Heads. Wasn’t disappointed.
A passing storm at Black Rock, near Barwon Heads. The remnants of a rainbow just visible beneath the storm cloud. /
Taken at Black Rock near Barwon Heads. The storm had just passed out to sea and let the late evening light illuminate the water.
I was on the beach near my home in Oregon. I heard a crashing wave to my right, turned, pointed the camera at arms length, and snapped the shutter….this image is a gift from the universe.
