The light was changing every minute. I climbed over some huge rocks to get into a great position to take some surfing shots, when suddenly this huge cloud covered up the sun. Suddenly the beautiful light illuminating the waves the surfers were riding was gone. I looked to my left and noticed the light here. Quickly, I grabbed my stuff and setup this shot…..only got one frame, because soon after this the light here was also gone. Taken at sunset at Laval-Ouest beach on 22/04/08(spring in Canada). Used my Canon A75. I am pleased with the color and calmness of the lake. The name came to me instantly. Although it cannot be seen by the viewer this area was flooded out and I had to take the shot from across the road as the water had spilled over. Featured in Live, Love, Dream group, October 2008

A Watercolour painting of one of the beautiful views of Wilsons Promotory. Wilsons Promotory is the Southernmost tip of mainland, Australia. The area features sandy beaches and sheltered coves, coastal dunes and swamps It could almost be an island with 80 miles of coastline except for the connection to the mainland at its North East corner. The surrounds are also home to many wildlife including wombats, koalas, wallabies, emus and kangaroos. A peaceful walk along its sandy beaches to refresh one’s soul and bring you closer to nature is surely a desire for all. A stroll alone along the sand / soaking in nature with its magic wand / the air is crisp the day is new / briskly walking enjoying the view….

Anyway last week I decided to work on it again. So, originally we had this (rather unattractive boring red head) / / and with a few alterations we now have this much more friendly gal.

Shot with Canon 5Dmk2 and Canon 24-70 2.8L lens (34mm) at f22, 1.6sec Auto WB ISO50 in Apeture mode. / Red Rock, Yuragir National Park, Mid North Coast, NSW Australia. I would like to thank my good friend Simone Byrne for her advice and encouragement with my landscapes. Check her out on RB if you want to see some truely outstanding photography. I think this is one of my best images. Believe it or not it is very difficult to capture images here because of its bearing and landscape. The colours of the rocks, the short duration of light and the bright sky tend to cause loss in a significant range in either highlights or darks whichever way you try to capture it. I had to use an 8 stop neutral density filter and 4 stop grad ND to get a balance between the two.
