Gunnamatta Beach is a long stretching surf beach on the southern coast of the Mornington Peninsula. It has high sand dunes, long stretches of sand, and very rugged outcrops of rock. Most times of the year it’s a quite place where you can go to get away from things. This is Gunnamatta beach one autumn morning.

A Sydney Northern Beach sunrise over Turimetta.
This shot was taken at Noosa National Park. As the sun was setting the light to the North was just so dramatic and colourful…I couldn’t resist

Yanakie Beach is a beautiful little spot with a camping ground just outside of Wilsons Promontory National Park bordering Corner Inlet. Just off the beach is this atmospheric little group of rocks named after the Black Faced Shag (Leucocarbo fuscescens) a member of the Cormorant family that is often seen sitting on it with wings spread drying itself. Shag feathers are not very waterproof which aids their swimming ability by reducing buoyancy. The trade off is that they take more effort to dry. Due to its shallow waters, Corner Inlet tides appear massive covering and uncovering kilometres of sand and mud every cycle. On other visits these rocks have been marooned amidst a sea of mud. On this particular morning however, the tides were perfect for reflecting the first golden rays offsetting the silhouetted granite. This photograph was taken on a warm summer morning just before sunrise at a beach near Busselton, Western Australia. The water was very calm and there was no breeze. It was a perfect morning to get out and take some photographs.

The new morning steals in almost silently at Williamstown Beach, Melbourne. Lumix TZ11. Unedited.
Sunrise over the Irish Sea. Taken from Newcastle beach in County Down, Northern Ireland. Not critically sharp due to strong winds and the tripod slowly sinking into the sand. / Canon 5D mkII 24-70 2.8L. ND4 filter plus 3 stop ND grad.
This was taken back in August 2009 on a beautiful morning at 5am. I got up early and drove down to Folkestone to capture a Sunrise. I was not expecting this result.
