Continuation of my previous sunrise image, taken 14 minutes later as the ocean waits for the sun at Point Lonsdale beach looking over Port Phillip Bay to the Mornington Peninsula. This was one of the most beautiful sunrises that I have seen. What a glorious sky! (even if I do say so myself!) 3 bracketed exposures blended in Dynamic Photo HDR. I used the Canon 5D with 16-35mm at 16mm, f/8, three different exposures, ISO 50, and just one Lee filter at this stage, ND grey 0.9soft, tripod and cable release. This image was taken on 1st April 2009 at Mills Beach in Mornington. / Canon 450D 18-200 lens / exp: 1/200s f5.6 / ISO 125 / I went to the beach with my family for some fish & chips and almost didn’t take my camera. My hubby talked me into it last minute. I would have been in tears!!! /

Shot with Canon 5Dmk2 and Canon 24-70 2.8L lens (34mm) at f22, 1.6sec Auto WB ISO50 in Apeture mode. / Red Rock, Yuragir National Park, Mid North Coast, NSW Australia. / 812 viewings I would like to thank my good friend Simone Byrne for her advice and encouragement with my landscapes. Check her out on RB if you want to see some truely outstanding photography. I think this is one of my best images. Believe it or not it is very difficult to capture images here because of its bearing and landscape. The colours of the rocks, the short duration of light and the bright sky tend to cause loss in a significant range in either highlights or darks whichever way you try to capture it. I had to use an 8 stop neutral density filter and 4 stop grad ND to get a balance between the two.

Black glass magic – I had gone on this shoot with a bad attitude, expecting the sky to be bland and the day to be a waste of time, and therefore I set the camera on large jpg so I wouldn’t waste too much computer space….As it turned out, I’ve managed to drag out some amazing results. This is another straight from the camera image, although I had to take it into PS to straighten the horizon…. Canon 5D Mk II, 16-35mm at 16mm, f/10, 90seconds, ISO 50, Hoya NDX400, Singh Ray 3 stop reverse grad, Lee 0.9 ND grad, tripod, cable release, lots of guessing….I should point out the red sky is enhanced by the Singh Ray filter, which seems to put a colour cast across the ND area when used in conjunction with the Lee filter…. - / SEASCAPES / NEW ZEALAND / PEOPLE
