    by Mel Brackstone

    US$6.27–US$167.20

Well, dear watchers, I’m totally freaked out about my trip to Melbourne. I’m packed and packing it…..so I thought I’d upload one last image before I leave. Garry, Nick and I left Brisbane at 1.30am to drive up to Rainbow beach last Saturday morning, and we arrived with an hour to go before sunrise. What better to do than set up the tripod and attempt to focus the camera in the dark….my first attempt at this sort of thing. Camera settings: 5:21am – Mid Winter – Canon 5D w 16-35mm at 16mm, f/4.5, 234seconds, ISO 200, tripod, cable release….of course you need a cable release to use the Bulb setting… I had four camera batteries fail that morning, so only 2 out of 6 attempts at long exposures worked. It was FREEEEEEEZING out there on the dune, but worth it for the knowledge gained. There were no clouds to speak of, so Nick wasn’t as well pleased as he would normally be :) Here’s a shot of Nick’s, to show the sheer scale of this place. Garry is circled, he’s up the slope that’s centre of my image…. / Thank you all so much for your wonderful comments and support, and I hope to meet some of you at the gallery on Friday night! Cheers…. Seascapes New Zealand Frogs Lensbaby Infrared Industrial Spam Panorama Landscapes Real Estate Series People Plastic People

  • Rainbow glow
    by Tony Middleton

    US$5.70–US$152.00

Fallen casuarinas that tumbled to the water from wave erosion during deep low pressure systems in 2007 and 2008 line the beaches near Inkskip point in SEQ. / The view sweeps around to the famous coloured dunes of Rainbow beach and onwards to Double Island point and on large versions the glow from the lighthouse that adorns this point can be seen. / Fuji G617 – Velvia 50. / ©T.Middleton2008 —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / / see more of my TRUE panoramic photography by clicking on the image below / /

  • Looked out of the window yesterday evening – thought the sky showed some promise – so tootled off to Black Rock, near Barwon Heads. Wasn’t disappointed.

  • Big Swells
    by Naomi Frost

    US$4.13–US$110.20

Big storms and big swells at the beach today.

  • Shelley Beach is another of Portsea’s wonderful stretches of bayside coast. This beach, as with others near by, hosts several interesting jetties and beach houses. I really love this photo for it’s layering of colours – the effect in the sky is called ‘Neptune’s Rings’ and is a rare atmospheric phenomenon. When there is a certain amount of particles in the atmosphere (perhaps as a result of bushfires), the spectrum of light is separated in to more prominent and distinct bands of colour than would normally be seen. This effect, combined with the colours of the plantlife make the scene so interesting.

  • After The Rain
    by Peter Kurdulija

    US$3.85–US$102.60

  • Be thou the rainbow in the storms of life. The evening beam that smiles the clouds away, and tints tomorrow with prophetic ray. / / Lord Byron (1788-1824)

  • Super highway
    by Mel Brackstone

    US$6.27–US$167.20

This is the beach that used to be the highway from Noosa to Rainbow Beach. Storms and erosion have done their best to make it impassable by 4WD any more, but what a paradise it is without them :) Queensland in mid Winter…why would you want to be anywhere else? This is untouched apart from horizon levelling and spot removal. Canon 5D with 16-35mm at 16mm, f/14, 1/25th second, ISO 50, Singh ray warming polariser. 11:49am, not the best time to shoot landscapes!
