In this image we see a pier jutting out into the red sea as the sunsets. We have an idea as to the narrowness of the waterway at this point as we can see the mountains in the background. We can also see where the name for this stretch of water comes from, the reflection of the light off the mountains appearing red in the water. This image has used ‘HDR’ High Dynamic Range techniques to bring out the huge range of colours that are invisible to the naked eye.

The Beach and Pier in Llandudno, North Wales near Conwy, this balck and white image shows the interesting shapes and textures to be found in this historic Victorian holiday resort on the North Wales coast. Just as winter was drawing to a close I decided I wanted to try and capture the beaches of the holiday resorts of North Wales in this raw and natural state before the tourists arrive. Llandudno had had good reports and so off I went. I spent the day wondering around the beach, town and pier and this was one of the best images I managed to get. The post allows a focal point to this otherwise fairly bleak and open beach, with only a few passers by in the distance and only a couple of Heron Gulls for company.
