A section from Arlington West. An ongoing display of the casualties in Iraq to protest against the war in Iraq, and increase the public awareness regarding the military and political fallout of staying there. Each Sunday morning thousands of crosses, as the number of the fallen, for that day, are placed in the sand and volunteers are providing the public with up to the moment information on casualties plus individual stories on the fallen. I saw this structure on a local beach after flooding last year had washed lots of driftwood into the sea. / This is something of a departure for me from the rather surrealistic pieces so far, this time just playing with the aesthetics of paint and form. I have a range of similar pieces in mind that should start popping up in due course.

Lovers’ Point, Pacific Grove, CA…, shot on a recent trip to the Monterey Peninsula….06/03/09 12:50 AM low tide and a clear day……the fog burnt off by about 9:00 AM and the rest of the day was gorgeous. This image is taken North of Lovers’ Point from Ocean View Drive….in this shot you can see the Old Bathhouse….(the darker structure directly above the beach on the left) renovated a few times over, but still where I recall the original bathhouse that I remember from my childhood. The ocean was calm, not a wave breaking…the cool refreshing sea breeze was a nice feeling after the recent heat wave in Northern California. / / /
