Took this last July while in St Pete Beach Florida. Our hotel room balcony looked out over the Gulf of Mexico and this was just one shot of the many beautiful sunsets we saw while there! I can’t wait to go back! A stunning card… /

A slightly tweaked version (July 09) of my first time out with a first dslr. The original as is image is below for comparison, and the older comments refer to that one… ;))) Taken before dawn (5am) in Puerto Morelos on the Yucatan penisula just south of Cancun Nov 2008 up and excited to try my new toy! Nikon d60 / Nikkor 18-200 lens / f/8 / 1.5 sec / ISO-100 / focal length 55mm / pattern metering / aperture priority Thanks so much for taking the time to look and all and any comments are much appreciated cheers maggie / ;)))))))) untouched original: July 2009 version: and the simpler pano version..don’t know if it packs more of a punch… let me know what you think…

I’m thinking this may be what’s called a ‘groyne’ .. (new word from the bubble) hit twice daily by the power of the sea in Mexicos’ Playa del Carmen, and lit by the sinking sun. Part of much needed coastal defenses it helps prevent sandloss and erosion on the inland side..especially important as hurricanes can play havoc with currents ad movement of sand.. Captured with a Nikon coolpix compact E4800 its a small apology for a wave but a great excuse to flag up some exceptional wave watchers with unbelievable work.. Please check out the exceptional work of my heroes / Paul Manning , Phil Threlfall / and Matt Ryan to name but three.. cheers / maggie :))))

Captured on Venice beach, Florida while standing on the pier.Looking over the beach and the Gulf of Mexico. Venice beach is a small barrire island off Florida’s west coast. This is what our beaches look like in the summer when it is hot. During the winter most locals stay away for the beach, because of tourist, snow birds and the fact the Gulf water is to cold for us. lol My summer beach days are almost over. / canon 5D mark ll / canon focal 22mm / ISO 100 / 1/125 f/11 CP filter /
