A golden beach near Lahaina glowing in the light of the setting sun as a gnarled Banyan Tree appears to reach for drink in the rising tide.
Beautiful south Maui beach at sunset…..
A cleat left from a jetty long since eroded and swept away by the tides on a South Maui Beach with the sacred island of Kahoolawe bathing in the light of the rising sun.
This photo was taken on my first trip to Hawaii
Jesus was probably really good at surfing.
A beautiful wave crashes into the shores of Hawaii. This was an excellent day for shooting just empty waves and I managed to get quite a few dramatic looking shots, this one was my favorite from this day.

We were treated to one gorgeous sunset after another in Kauai. I love this photo because you can see someone enjoying themself in the hammock, while another person just sits in the chair, soaking in the beauty. This was the kind of sunset that just stopped everyone in their tracks and took all of our breath away!!!!! Nikon D200, Nikkor 18-200mm VR lens Please check out my calendar – SIMPLY SUNSETS
This photograph is a sunrise shot taken at Halona Cove on O’ahu’s eastern shore. The sun appeared to be rising straight out of Haleakala or “House of the Sun” on Maui. Halona Cove is also known as “From Here to Eternity” Beach. This is the location where Deborah Kerr and Burt Lancaster embraced in the surf in a memorable, steamy scene from the movie of that title. The Wedding Beach at Makena. / Once you find this spot, you will return time and again to enjoy the unsurpassed beauty you find here. In the morning hours, the water will be all shades of blue and turquoise and I believe this is one of the most beautiful beaches on Maui, Hawaii / Nikon D-60 AF-S NIKKOR 18-55mm Featured POLYNESIAN CONNECTION ~ Jan – Feb – Mar 2009 / Featured in HAWAII ~NA AU’ group ~ 21 April 2009 Mahalo for coming to visit one of my most favorite photos of Maui. Such a beautiful place, it is good to come and visit in the morning for the light over the water is magical. Aqua, turquise, deep blue with white waves crashing on the shore. Once you have been here, you will never forget this perfect little bay that has been nicknamed the “Wedding Beach.”. / It is simply sublime…
Ehukai Beach is on the world famous Hawaiian North Shore. / It’s claimed to be one of the best surf spots on the face of the planet, especially in winter. / I see this boy standing upon the beach, maybe leaning up against his car with his friends… / His board strapped to the roof rack and an endlessly long scarf wrapped around his neck. / Watching the water with as much lust as others watch the opposite sex. P.S. The original actually has two inches of solid black border on both the right and the left. / If you look close enough you can see that the lines on those sides aren’t perfectly straight. / That’s because it was done by hand, chipmunk. It is a rare occasion when there is no wind blowing the palms, and there are enough clouds over the ocean to create a dramatic sunset at this location. I spent a week’s worth of evenings in this area before the conditions set up perfectly. Technically this is a series of 5 long exposures layered. I was using a 10mm lens on my little Canon XTi. It worked. This beach is in an area where there will soon be plenty of new construction, sadly. The “old” Maui is slipping away, and it breaks my heart. I hope images like this will preserve the pristine flavor for future generations.

A beach on the North Shore of Hawai’i. The weather has been unusually rainy on the island of Oahu, Hawai’i. I managed to catch some good clouds in between storms at a place called Rockpiles. December 13, 2008 Canon 1 Ds Mark II 17 mm / 3.2 second shutter speed / f/8 / ISO 100

Tides rolling shore as the sun sets over a rocky beach near Lahaina on Maui.
During this past week, unimaginable waves came crashing into the north shores of the Hawaiian islands. The surf was windy, and messy, and disorganized—not ridable for the great watermen of Hawaii. I happened to be in Sunset Beach, Oahu during the storm, and the sun only peeked through the clouds a couple of times, briefly. I was waiting. Here is my image.
