  • São Tomé and Príncipe is an island nation in the Gulf of Guinea, off the western equatorial coast of Africa. It consists of two islands: São Tomé and Príncipe, located about 140 kilometres off of the north-western coast of Gabon. Both islands are part of an extinct volcanic mountain range. / I really enjoyed working there…. It is probably one of my favourite in Africa. It has a wonderful Brazilian touch…. And it is pretty untouched….. if you are lucky to get there one day, please leave the way it was…. / I am really sad to see how in too many countries tourism has destroyed the village, the people and more…. / It is also one of the some African countries were people really value their place and would not fly away to the “American dream” or “European Eldorado”. All proceeds from sales of pictures will go to the child art education project of Art in All of Us (WWW.ARTINALLOFUS.ORG)

  • Went to take some shots at Point Ormond Elwood a little while ago. After I’d taken shots I started walking home. I turned around to see where my dog was and this is what I saw. A kid flying a kite against a beautiful sunset. The structure is the Point Ormond beacon. OTHER BEACH SHOTS: OTHER BEACH SHOTS: / /

  • Black headed gulls taking off from sandy beach in Devon. Watercolour by Ruth S Harris Original available for sale.

  • Stock Photo Credit: / Model / Background Also used various Photoshop brushes and filters to create lightning, rain and light Once again I was delighted to be Bubblemailed by another fantastic poet, who brought my attention to a poem she had wrote that made her think of this piece of art.* Storm by binjy accompanies this artwork beautifully: Storm With clouds boiling fiercely in soft cloaks of grey, / and the light of the gods in the sky- / I bared my soul to the force of the night, / and wished the past year goodbye. A turbulent year, reflected by storm , / with power, excitement and pain. / With coolness refreshing, like breezes in summer. / With tears like the sweet fall of rain. The winds carrying scents of some interesting place, / bring sand grains to prickle the skin of my face. / So has the year gone. The exquisite pleasure, / shining like lightning; a transient treasure, / now lost in the grey cloak’ed clouds.

  • Moving is always bittersweet for me, especially when its a far away move. Packing is not much fun, but the reward for me is always unpacking (there is always good with the bad)!! The hardest part of moving is leaving that which and those whom you love dearly behind… Yesterday I split up the ashes of Stedman our late and beloved Cocker Spaniel with my ex. We made a memorial for him here on the property and leaving both it and my garden beds is a little tough, as we have had so many good memories here. “Steady Freddy,” was his nickname, among many others!! Stedman died from an accidental death a little over two years ago. However, it’s our belief that Stedman left us, so that little Stevey Wonder Dawg could be saved from the streets and come into our lives. The saying, “When one door closes another one opens,” held true in this case. Another saying that comes to mind is that, “You get what you need when you need it, not when you want it.” Yesterday I decided to plant a flower on Stedman’s memorial site, since I have now removed his big heart stone and my small antique St. Francis statue. Sure enough, after one minute of looking, I stumbled across a beautiful variegated plant, which was incredibly named an “Exotic Angel Nectarine!” This little plant is splashed with incredible color, as if a painter dabbed brushes into different colors of bright, vibrant paint and lovingly shook those brushes onto green leaves. The predominent color is red – for the heart of course! My heart will always beat with Stedman deeply in it (along with the rest of my beloved buddies who have passed and now sky dance together). I’m a better person for all of the incredibly wonderful times that we had together!!! LOL – being the character that he was, he’d agree, I’m sure!! :)) This photograph was shot at the dog park in Huntington Beach, California with a Canon XT, 300mm zoom. To read more about Stedman, please read his story Circle Dance with Gratitude

  • A Para-Glider enjoying the adrenaline rush of flying on the breeze at Dixon Park in New South Wales, Australia. A digital photograph captured with a 6 MP Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-S500 and edited in Photoshop Elements 7 where textures and effects filters were applied. The original photograph of the glider is much more light-filled than this edit. • My sis and my son off to chase some birds… normally I don’t allow my kids to scare animals, but this didn’t hurt the birds any… Grunged it up in CS4 Nikon D80 Astoria, Oregon / 4 Oct 09

  • I took the viewfinder and my Canon down to the beach on Sunday to take some summer shots. This is one of the results from that day. The seagull flew into the shot and I didn’t notice it until I started processing this one. There was a feeling of closure and finality in this shot with the gull included. I really enjoy a bright sunny day with a few clouds scattered across the sky. Especially sitting down on the beach, really makes me feel like a kid again. Original shot cropped and layered once, with hue adjustment and a warming filter added. See here for instructions on how to create this image.
