This shot was taken on our holiday to Port Douglas and the crab who created the little sand balls must have wanted to include a little colour in his work. I especially like the use of the burnt orange leaf on the right, I believe he/she is a very talented crab artist.

I was fascinated by the patterns made by crafty little crabs on our holiday last year to Port Douglas. / As it turns out, the crabs make these little balls out of sand and are roughly the same size as the body of the crab. If they are out on the sand and feel threatened, they simply make like a ball and hopefully avoid detection. / The patterns also help them identify their homes, pretty cool!

Saw this little guy get washed up on the beach. When i showed this photo to my kids they immediately yelled out “Mr. Crabs!”... from the sponge bob cartoons… it was too funny.

Found this crab at my local, took me 10 mins to work up the courage to touch it for fear of getting nipped! But I realised as I got closer there would be no nipping,...the crab was a fleshless skeleton. I moved him around on different coloured rocks to get the best light…then I felt kind of guilty about leaving him there after Id had my way with him. I had to remind myself that it was not a ‘him’, it was a skeleton…hmmm. Deep thought for the day!
