I had driven to the beach, to catch the sunset, only to find pea soup thick fog.

The scene at Smith’s Beach, on the Indian Ocean some 350 kms south of Perth, Western Australia. On the horizon can just be seen the familiar outline of Sugar Loaf rock, beloved by photographers everywhere. / Smith’s Beach has been the subject of much controversy in recent times with plans for development being bitterly opposed by the handful of locals and thousands of regular visitors. At the moment the whole thing is in limbo with court actions planned.
“I stand amid the roar / Of a surf-tormented shore, / And I hold within my hand / Grains of the golden sand- / How few!yet how they creep / Through my fingers to the deep, / While I weep-while I weep! / OGod!can I not grasp / Them with a tighter clasp? / O God!can I not save / One from the pitiless wave?...”(Edgar Poe)

Nauset Light House is located in Nauset, MA on Cape Cod. It’s right next to a beautiful beach where one can surf and spend time sunbathing. Over the years erosion has taken some of the beach but it still is a great place to hang out. Taken with a Canon XTI. / F/8 / ISO-100 / 1/60sec / 41mm

..on a rainy September day! This was taken on a quite gloomy day in Cape Cod, Massachusetts a couple of years ago. It really didn’t matter to me since I love going to the beach no matter what the weather is like. The sound of the waves calms the soul in so many ways. I thought converting it into B&W would capture the gloominess of the day. Camera: Canon PowerShot A510 / Exposure Time: 1/50 sec / Shutter Speed: 1/50 sec / No flash
