Happy New Year everyone! This shot was taken at the Sunshine Coast just before Christmas 2007….well it’s an old shot isn’t it. Taken with my Canon 5D and the EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L II USM Lens. No Filter has been used but I did some fake HDR processing (single shot) using Dynamic Photo HDR. It’s a fun program and a great alternative to Photomatix.
Full moon to the left…airport to the right, a nugget in the sea and a sprinkled sky 13 Sec Exposure / Focal Length 16.0 mm / F6.3
The SS Dicky was washed ashore onto Dicky Beach in 1893 during a cyclone. It was re-floated, but again, heavy seas turned the ship about and back onto the sand where it remains to this day. / / The suburb and beach was named after the ship. The beach is an unspoilt stretch of sun-drenched sand, on Queensland’s magnificent Sunshine Coast. Taken with my 5D and 16-35mm lens and I was so lucky to have a nature spectacle as the fog rolled in from West creating a mystic ambience I have also written a photographers guide if you are interested in knowing more about this site
The water was so clear over in The Maldives that you could clearly see from about 15 meters away. I miss it :)
Taken at Half Moon Bay near Melbourne, Victoria, Australia at sunset on a nice warm summer’s day. Taken with Canon 400D on tripod and with ND4 grad filter, worked on in Adobe Lightroom 2 Click here for my other seascapes Featured in the Mornington Peninsula & Port Phillip Bay Group in February 2009
After arriving at the beach after work I started walking to the point but couldn’t resist taking a snap of this bucket that just happened to be sitting on the shore. There wasn’t even any people around so I wondered how it had got there… Processed in Adobe Lightroom 2 only, experimented with the new adjustment brushes which are coooool! Used Cokin ND4 grad and circular polarising filters, taken with a Canon 400D Click here for my other seascapes Featured in the Selective Colouring Group in January 2009 Featured in the Canon DSLR Group in January 2009 Featured in the All About Water group in January 2009
Rick and Gypsy walking along the Beachport Jetty, (second longest in South Australia), at Beachport in the Limestone Coast region. The jetty is currently under repairs and handrails and railway tracks have been removed, creating the flat unguarded jetty you see here. Stretching into the distance like a runway! Canon 400D 18-55 lens 3 shot HDR in photomatix.
A re visit today to the shipwrecked sailing vessel, “Pisces Star” that came aground over ten years ago near the Lighthouse at Carpenters Rocks, Limestone Coast, South Australia. Extremely low tide today and great sky’s allowed for some panorama sets with an old tripod sitting in salt water…. Canon 400D – 18-55 with CIR Polarising lens. 5 shot set stitched in Photoshop CS3.

Extremely low tide today and great sky’s allowed for some close up shots with my backside sitting in salt water…. Canon 400D – 18-55 with CIR Polarising lens.

Had a go at an old shot of clevedon, blended two shots together one exposed for sky the other for the foreground, the original post on here is hdr, this is a far better result. canon400d, f18@3osec, canon 10-22
First light – The Bluff, Victor Harbor South Australia. A Brilliant blue sky as the sun rises over the ocean along the foreshore near the Bluff at Victor. Canon 400D – 18-55 lens, CIR Polariser.
A re edit of a pic I already have on here which was a HDR image, trying to steer away from it unless I find it appropriate. I like this one better in a lot of ways sometimes it’s better not to see all the hidden details. Processed in Adobe Lightroom 2. Gear out in the field – Canon 400D, Velbon tripod, 10-22mm lens, shutter release, nd grad filter. Enjoy :) This image was the winner of the “Part of the Sun” (Sunset or Sunrise) Challenge in the “Mornings & Evenings—Sunbeams & Storms” Group on the 7th of April 2009. For some time now I’ve been besotted by Mel Brackstone’s SS Dicky images. She generously shares much information about how she gets such remarkable images, like this for example / I finally bought some NDgrad filters and this and my next image are my first attempts to use them to capture the movement of the ocean, I have much to learn. Thanks for the inspiration and advice Mel. Canon 450D ISO100 F5.6 6/10s f18mm (Cokin 121s ND Grad)

Thanks for the inspiration and advice Mel. I processed this using a script-fu plug-in for Gimp which attempts to mimic the Fuji Velvia slide film that I used to love so much in the days before digital. Got up for dawn at Port Campbell only for it to be drizzly and overcast, but by the time I got down to the beach and the sun started to rise some awesome colour came through and it made the early start well and truly worth it! / Settings Canon 40D, 10-22mm EF-S. Canon 400D Camera + Sigma 10-20 Lens / 80 second exposure @ f8 On the southern tip of Australia you can find this prehistoric anamoly. It is one of only 3 places in the world that does not have any colour. It’s not an easy place to find, but i knew i was getting closer when i noticed that the blue from the sky was turning white, very strange. I was speaking to a local and he told me that they only get colour 3 months of the year, incredible!
Sunset at Newcastle Beach.
Early morning sunrise view seen from the boat launching facility near the Bluff, Victor Harbor. A fisherman’s welcome to the day!!! Canon 400D 18-55 lens with CIR Polariser.
Another shot from out the back at Portsea, couldn’t resist uploading this shot. I just love the atmosphere.. makes me feel like I’m still standing up on that rock with no-one around, just me and the crashing ocean. / Settings Canon 40D, 17-85mm IS.
