This small rock pool is found in Cabbage Tree Bay, along the pathway between Manly and Shelly Beach on Sydney’s northern beaches. The sculpture/statue is known as The Oceanids. This image was a 30 second exposure nearly an hour before sunrise with the pool wall and sculpture lit up by a nearby street light. This image has also won a photo of the week at photographer Steve Parish’s Photograph Australia website.

I was driving along a road in a seaside town at Jervis Bay National Park, just 2.5 hours south of Sydney Australia when I glimpsed this moon through some trees with a pathway of silver light across the water. A lucky moment, in that all the elements were there but tricky in putting them together because it was so dark I couldn’t see anything through the viewfinder and had to keep taking pics, viewing them on the LCD display and then moving the tripod to get the composition I wanted. / It looks to me like the trees on either side of the moon are partners about to dance onto the floor of some enchanted ballroom. This is a composite photo taken in Shalimar, FL near the edge of the bay. It was a glorious summer night. I applied the NIK skylight filter to deepen the reds in the picture. I also shot the sun on the same night to the west of the bank. I’ve combined them for a rich summer night shot. / /

Moods of Mallabula Series / Best Viewed Large At low tide the Tilligerry foreshore is a wonderful place to explore, with it’s broad sand flats, rock platforms and pools. At high tide on a hot day, it’s a cooling spot for a swim; the best place to take dip is under one of the many Tea Trees which overhang the water along the boardwalk between Mallabula and Tanilba Bay. /
What do you call the light that permanently imprints itself into the deepest corner of your cerebral real estate? Just a memorable one, divine, sublime? The star was going down fast, as it was just a matter of ‘to get it over and done with‘ a daily sunset routine – until that moment. Like it was switched on by some all powerful hand residing somewhere in the center of a kingdom of light, the sunbeam reached across the valley, bringing all the associated attributes with it, like joy and warmth, just for a few moments, before disappearing altogether. The blue cold haze drowned the beautiful Hawkes Bay valley, but not before the last ray of sun got there first. I was standing in awe … for a while in fact, still in disbelief. Review button and LCD screen confirmed it did happen. Sweet. I’ll treasure selfishly the melody of breeze passing through the treetops, the smell of golden grass and feel of fallen leafs under my feet. Not to worry, I left something to share with you. Here it is.

Captured this am getting ready to leave for work. I loved how the end rocks (point) of Bell’s Island, NC looked like an arrow pointing at the intercoastal waterway. I debated removing the old duck blind in the distance…but decided it should stay.
Taken a while ago at a place called Warners Bay in Newcastle, Oz. It’s infrared.
Another shot from my latest trip to Loch Lomond. It was a bit overcast, so I figured a nice long exposure would help – the water has been smoothed over, and the clouds have motion which I like. I prefer this shot to the last one I uploaded, although I did need to crop a small amout off the right hand side of the picture. Canon Eos 5D, polariser, 1.2ND and 0.9 soft grad at ISO 50 for 30 seconds.
It’s been a while since I uploaded an infrared image..so here goes. I took this one today – the clouds were amazing. Location: Warners Bay, Newcastle, NSW. / Camera: Canon 450D and kit lens / Filter: R72 / Details: f/5.6, 10sec exposure, ISO400
Early Evening In The Garden Of Good And Evil was shot at Elkington Park in Balmain, Sydney, in the company of millions of mosquitos and batches of bats. Since being Featured Art by Redbubble and in the Night Photography Group, this work has become one of my most popular images on RB. It is also one of the works I am most proud of, especially as I had no set shooting agenda before I arrived at the location of this magnificent tree, a favourite spot. Here’s a photo I took from my balcony in June 2009. We are lucky enough to watch spectacular sunsets daily and this was just one of many I’ve managed to capture so I decided to share.. I know there’s plenty of beautiful sunset shots but I love this as it’s from my house :o) / Nikon D200 / 18-200mm lens / Processed in RAW

What summer means to me is escaping civilization, after being cooped up and snowed in for months, and camping out as long as possible (usually until more snow forces us back indoors). If I wasn’t able to spend some of my summer in the woods, I think I’d go crazy. I need the complete quiet of nature to recharge my batteries and make me more pleasant to be around.
